The Department of Pretrial Services has an immediate opening for a Risk Assessment Specialist - SHIFT positionin Fayette County.
Characteristics of the Job : The risk assessment (RA) specialist is responsible for in-depth knowledge of risk assessment methodology andbest practices as it relates to the field.
The RA specialist will evaluate the needs and requirements of thedepartment in the use of the risk assessment tool and will be responsible for conducting product testing ofthe current tool.
In addition, the RA specialist will be responsible for all facets of strategy developmentand continued process improvement involving the tool.
The RA specialist will apply the risk assessment andprovide results to pretrial officers and courts. The RA specialist will provide credible and accurate riskassessment information to the courts.
Examples of Duties or Responsibilities of this Classification :
- Document and ensure communication related to risk assessment.
- Maintain input or data quality of risk assessment.
- Perform the duties of a pretrial officer, which include but are not limited to, preparing affidavits.
- Perform administrative and other duties as assigned.
- Communicate / articulate the concepts and processes behind risk assessment methodology.
- Analyze and interpret data for trends affecting program outcomes.
- Process information by compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing or providestatistical reports to other departments.
- Translate or explain what information means and how it can be used.
- Develop processes to monitor the validity of risk assessment.
- Implement risk assessment models or methodologies.
- Produce reports or presentations that outline findings and explain risk assessment.
- Ability to present ideas in a business-friendly and user-friendly manner.
- Track, measure, and report pretrial outcomes.
- Analyze new legislation to determine impact on pretrial services.
- Obtain information from all relevant sources.
- Provide information to supervisor, co-worker, and subordinates by telephone, in written form and in person.
- Advanced computer skills allowing interaction with computers on a regular basis to enter data or advancedhands-on knowledge of risk assessment data base and risk assessment data quality.
- Evaluate information to determine compliance with standards.
- Develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others.
- Organize, plan, and prioritize work along with executing tasks in a high-pressure environment.
- Provide guidance and expert advice to peers, co-workers, management, and stakeholders.
- Communicate with persons outside pretrial services to provide information and / or data.
- Advanced understanding of court processes.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements EDUCATION : Bachelor’s degree in related field
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS : 1 year of pretrial risk assessment experience, statistical analysis and or research experience
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE : NONE
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION : ASSOC. / 3 yrs. job related exp or HS diploma / 5 yrs. job related experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.) : Must be able to pass FBI clearance to obtain NCIC certification.
Must be able to work in the jail or detention center of the county or counties in which assigned.Extensive knowledge of pretrial risk assessment methodology and research.
Extensive knowledge of best practices in the field of pretrial services.Extensive knowledge of Kentucky court system.Extensive knowledge in criminal history investigation at a nationwide level.
Working Conditions Work is typically performed in detention centers and judicial center offices.May include nights, weekend, and holidays.
Extensive travel will be required.
