Job Summary
The Maintenance Technician responds to daily trouble calls from Maintenance or Production Team Leaders in a food manufacturing facility.
Must be able to quickly and efficiently troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical problems in a food production environment.
Must have a working knowledge in electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. Knowledge in basic repair of conveyors, pumps, motors, and mechanical drive systems.
Must have experience performing PM's, major over-hauls, modifications, fabrication, welding, and medium level electrical repairs.
Will be expected to generate purchase requisitions and service requests. This position will take assignments from the Maintenance Supervisor.
Respond to trouble calls for any electrical or mechanical issues on equipment from Maintenance or Production Team Leaders.
- Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues; be able to perform adjustments and repairs to process and packaging machinery.
- Apply technical knowledge in a timely and efficient manner to minimize downtime. Maintain the ability to rapidly identify problems and assess capabilities for in-house repairs.
- Conduct preventive maintenance (PM) inspections, line audits, complete daily logs and perform required preventative actions such as equipment repairs, lubrications, cleaning, filter change outs, etc.
- Basic knowledge of control equipment and circuitry, PLC interfaces, temperature controlling and sensing equipment, timing equipment, VFD's, metal detection, motor control, weighing systems, servo drives and inverters, recording equipment and power supplies AC & DC.
- Subject to company policies and procedures; responsible for the completion of assigned work orders and preventative maintenance tasks and responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Determine the scope of work and recommend appropriate solutions for identified problems, recommend parts and equipment to achieve repairs, generate purchase requests, and have appropriate tools on hand.
- Ability to safely operate a variety of machinery including lathes, drill presses, mills, welders, and accessory equipment in the manufacturing of fixtures and machines.
May install minor modifications and do limited plumbing, carpentry and painting.
- Know how to properly use laser levels, calipers, feeler gauges, dial indicators and various other measurement devices.
- Operate a wide variety of commonly used hand and small power tools to perform work.
- Document all work completed, PM charting and time management.
- Is expected to regularly communicate with co-workers and team leaders regarding business needs.
- Ability to follow lock-out and tag-out procedures.
- Is expected to observe GMP and safety policies at all time.
- Is expected to be able to train operators with new / modified equipment and work closely with colleagues regarding proper operation of equipment.
- Experience fabricating parts.
- Welding experience required (MIG &TIG).
- Experience with electric motor change out, 3 phase / 480 volt wiring.
- Be flexible, adaptable, team oriented and have a positive constructive attitude.
- Maintenance Technicians shall be included in the Maintenance on-call rotation and available for scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
