Overview

ISED Solutions at TSNE is looking for an experienced Website Developer (Developer) to build a new site for our Community Food Projects Technical Assistance program.

The Developer is responsible for creating a fairly straightforward website to facilitate applicant and grantee requests for technical assistance, to access numerous print and video resources, and to enable us to post links to webinars and other events.

The website will host numerous links to USDA and non-USDA resources, videos, and Google Forms as well as longer, more in-depth text pages.

The Developer will work closely with ISED staff to create the website's overall look and functionality. The Developer will also provide ongoing maintenance along with technical support and site updates as needed.

They will also need to train ISED on how to make updates themselves.

This is a contract position, expected to last up to two months.

The Community Food Projects (CFP) Competitive Grants Program awards grants to eligible nonprofits, tribal organizations, and food program service providers to promote self-sufficiency and increase food security in low-income communities by developing comprehensive, community-based solutions.

ISED helps Community Food Projects grantees with technical assistance, grant writing help & advice, and provides needed access to webinars and other relative information for grant recipients.

Responsibilities

ISED's new CFP website development should be fairly uncomplicated. ISED is looking for a design that is easy to understand and navigate, while also looking fairly elegant.

It is essential that the site be developed as soon as possible.

To expedite the development process, ISED has already created :

  • Mockup designs for pages and subpages, our design aesthetic that prioritizes legibility & access.
  • A Page and Subpage list for main navigation (as seen in website mockups).
  • Core design elements like landing page images, navigation icons, and other graphics.
  • Copy for web pages.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop the new website as detailed above.
  • Provide a step-by-step timeline for the website buildout and sticking to it.
  • Provide frequent and clear communications with the ISED Content Development Team throughout the process and beyond.
  • Train the ISED Content Development Team on how to add new events to events page, edit copy for main pages, and / or other skills deemed necessary after the transition from development to ongoing technical support.

Qualifications

  • Front and back end development experience assumed.
  • Expertise in friendly, accessible website design.
  • Excellent communication skills, including timely responses for setting up and honoring development milestones.
  • History of website maintenance for ongoing development projects.
  • Knowledge of website security, protections for hosts and users of website.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or at least 3 years' work experience in related field.
