Job Summary :

Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in an experimental lab, or wet lab, and handle a variety of chemicals and / or potential "wet" hazards.

Laboratory Science Professionals perform duties in laboratories where chemicals, drugs, or other materials or biological matters are tested and analyzed.

iC42 Clinical Research & Development is a cutting-edge bioanalytical resource and Service Center at the University of Colorado as well as a CU Medicine site of clinical practice.

iC42 Clinical Research and Development combines quantitative mass spectrometry (drugs, drug metabolites, endogenous compounds, and large molecules), metabolomics (LC-MS, GC-MS, and magnetic resonance spectroscopy-based) and proteomics under one roof, which makes it a unique facility.

Moreover, iC42 Clinical Research and Development serves as a central laboratory for national multi-center trials and coordinates and carries out clinical studies.

The laboratory is compliant with the rules of good laboratory practice (cGLP, 21 CFR part 58), and it is accredited by the College of American Pathologists and CLIA certified.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Collaborate with and support Principal Investigators (PI) and other stakeholders with laboratory and research functions as they relate to toxicology.
  • Utilize a variety of laboratory techniques required for research projects; for example, perform experiments and tabulate, analyze research, pick up, transport, and maintain results, samples, documents, materials, and other items as needed.
  • Support analytical testing process using standard lab support knowledge in the collection and review of conditions, including preserving samples, completing sample preparation, documenting, and communicating results and perform pre-analytical, analytical, and post analytical test process and evaluate results produced specifically working with the toxicology team and using of LC-MS / MS and INDIKO clinical analyzer operation, and performing instrument preparations, tuning, and maintenance.
  • Prepare lab for daily operations, including stocking materials, equipment, safety, cleanliness, and related areas as well as disposing of laboratory materials and samples using well established guidelines and instructions according to DEA, CAP and CLIA compliances.
  • Provide animal care related to research studies, as necessary.
  • Provide support researching issues and developing recommendations to resolve process, unit, and related issues.
  • Assist in the review and implementation of lab support policies, practices, and programs to meet organizational, operations and management needs as well as assisting to train junior team members (intermediate level).

Work Location :

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

Entry Level :

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

Intermediate Level :

  • Bachelor's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • A combination of education and related technical / paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
  • One (1) year professional level research experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Master's degree in biology, molecular biology, chemistry, genetics, or related field.
  • One (1) to two (2) years of experience in an experimental or wet laboratory.
  • Prior experience working with mass spectrometry.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

  • Proficient knowledge of basic laboratory techniques including safety procedures and techniques.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Knowledge of basic human anatomy, physiology, medical terminology.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research protocol information.

Anticipated Pay Range :

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as :

Entry Level : $45,000 - $57,240

Intermediate Level : $48,970 - $62,290

The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
