Work Schedule : 8 : 00 am - 4 : 00 pm, Monday - Friday, 60-minute unpaid lunch daily. Some evenings required.

POSITION SUMMARY :

Plan and conduct nutritional programs to assist in the promotion of health and control of disease. Conduct Health Assessments and provide nutrition counseling to individuals and families.

Conduct nutritional research.

  • Timely, regular, and consistent attendance.

  • Assist in the planning, conducting, and evaluation of dietary, nutritional, and epidemiological research.
  • Develop curriculum and prepare manuals, visual aids, course outlines, and other materials used in teaching.
  • Consult with physicians and health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions of client.
  • Counsel individuals, groups, and target populations on basic rules of good nutrition, healthy eating habits, and nutrition monitoring to improve their quality of life.

Make appropriate referrals.

  • Make recommendations regarding public policy, such as nutrition labeling, food fortification, and nutrition standards.
  • Utilize appropriate methods for interacting effectively and professionally with people of all ages and from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, educational, racial and ethnic backgrounds, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and physical abilities.
  • Assist with planning and preparing grant proposals to request program funding. Assist in budget oversight for equipment, food, and supplies.
  • Comply with federal, state, and health district policies, procedures, and regulations; and maintain all required licenses and / or certifications.
  • Assess nutritional needs, document diet restrictions and current health plans to develop and implement dietary-are plans and provide nutritional counseling.
  • Serve as a member of the WIC breastfeeding support team promoting breastfeeding.
  • Perform office support specialist duties as needed.
  • Use quality improvement (QI) and performance management (PM) processes and / or techniques to improve the effectiveness of public health programs and services including but not limited to creating, implementing, and evaluating performance standards and identifying, implementing, and assessing QI processes.
  • Responsibilities include other duties as assigned including but not limited to Accreditation requirements and responding to emergency events.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

Education :

Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition, dietetics or nursing from an accredited college or university. Dietetic Technician (DT) must

have completed approved two-year associate degree dietetic technician program : Required

Experience :

Completion of dietetic internship program approved by the American Dietetic Association. Experience in maternal and child nutrition including breastfeeding education.

Literacy and language skills appropriate to address the needs of diverse participants. Dietitian, limited permit same as above except person has applied to take qualifying exam or is waiting for exam results

Computer Skills :

Microsoft Office 365 required.

License & Certifications :

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

Ohio Licensed / registered dietitian. Registered Nurse (RN) must be licensed. Dietetic Technician (DTR)

Other Requirements :

National Incident Management System (NIMS) / Incident Command System (ICS) 100, 200 and 700.a to be obtained within six (6) months of hire.
