Ongoing The Grove National Historic Landmark is 143 acres of ecologically diverse prairie grove land preserved and maintained by the Glenview Park District.
The Grove was the home of visionary horticulturist and educator, Dr. John Kennicott. Because of its rich history, The Grove was designated a National Historic Landmark by the U.
S. Department of the Interior in 1976. It is on the National Registry of Historic Places. The Grove is a partner with the U.
S. Fish and Wildlife Service and Chicago Wilderness. The Grove relies on the work of volunteers to ensure each visitor has a wonderful experience.

JOB SUMMARY
The Grove hosts several special events throughout the year including Vintage Market in May, Pioneer Day in June, Ladies Night in September, Grove Folk fest in October, Holiday Arts & Craft Faire in November, and the Holiday Store from the end of November through December.
Each event is different but typically includes assisting staff with :
- Admissions
- Assisting interpreters in historic buildings wearing period costumes
- Welcoming visitors and providing excellent customer service
- Directing visitors to parking and event areas
- Serving food
QUALIFICATIONS
Volunteers must be at least 16 years or older. Children ages 8 -15 are eligible to volunteer when accompanied by an adult for all training and service.
Flexibility and great customer service skills are a must.
