GENERAL FUNCTION :
The basic function of the Optician are to attract and retain patients by delivering an exceptional patient experience, to foster patient retention, and to promote outstanding doctor satisfaction.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Contributing to a warm and welcoming health care environment for patients and co-workers
- Assist patients with selecting frames according to style and color
- Selecting and explaining the proper lens offerings and lens treatments based on the patient's needs and prescription
- Ordering patient's eyewear with accuracy
- Checking in eyewear and dispensing
- Ordering new eyewear, and / or repairs
- Working with insurance and notifying patients of their insurance benefits
The skills and qualifications required for this position include :
- Previous experience in optical is not necessary but is preferred
- Excellent time management and organizational skills to manage independent projects
- Accurate oral and written communication skills
- Effective focus and attention to detail on multiple tasks simultaneously
- Cooperative approach to setting and reaching team & induvidual goals
- Sound judgment in protecting patient privacy and confidentiality
- Good eye and hand coordination
- Punctual
- Basic math skills
- Professional attitude and appearance
- High School diploma or equivalent
