POSITION : High School Principal
SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES : Supervise and oversee the day-to-day operations of Omni High School, an alternative program of Carrollton Public Schools.
Manage the instructional programs, budget, lease negotiation, marketing, staffing and supervision, program and staff evaluation, local, state, and federal reporting.
Collaborate with community agencies to support the mission of the program.
REPORTS TO : Tiffany L. Peterson, Ed.S : Superintendent
COMPENSATION : A competitive financial package will be offered based on the experience and credentials of the candidate and the work schedule dictated by job duties and obligations.
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND OTHER CREDENTIALS :
- Masters degree in administration, educational leadership, or related fields.
- Has met the State continuing education requirements for administrators.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCES :
- Successful experience teaching / supervising alternative high school and adult education students.
- Successful experience with inner-city, at-risk youth and students, families from impoverished backgrounds.
- Minimum of five years of teaching experience.
- Demonstrated leadership, organizational, and people skills.
- Demonstrated communications skills, including writing, speaking, listening, and conflict resolution.
- Demonstrated understanding and implementation of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
- Computer and technology skills.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal accountabilities and assessments.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES :
Successful administrative experience.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :
- Develop overall goals and action plans for the program; delegate responsibilities and monitor progress.
- Oversee and administer student discipline.
- Develop and maintain an effective instructional program for adult and alternative high school students.
- Recruit, retain, and follow up on students.
- Maintain a positive, encouraging school climate; be responsive to students and staff.
- Ensure excellent academic advising and student record-keeping.
- Oversee enrollment, testing, and attendance procedures.
- Provide opportunities for student career exploration, job seeking, and transitioning to postsecondary education and training.
- Supervise student behavior and enforce handbook expectations.
- Evaluate teachers and support staff using evaluation tools.
- Interview, hire, evaluate, and dismiss staff.
- Supervise staff and administer programs, so they operate efficiently and effectively.
- Provide professional development opportunities to staff.
- Provide required reports as requested by the Superintendent.
- Maintain all reporting for alternative education.
- Oversee county, state, and federal reports and audits related to adult and alternative education.
- Supervise and assist in writing grant proposals for local, state, and federal funds. Oversee grant follow-up requirements, i.e., 31-A
- Attend Board of Education meetings and maintain excellent communications with Board members and the Superintendent.
- Represent Omni High School at relevant Saginaw Intermediate School District and other meetings.
- Oversee the planning and facilitating of Omni High School staff and school improvement meetings.
- Prepare, oversee, and monitor the budget for alternative education, including general funds and grants, and maintain financial viability.
- Plan and oversee marketing and publicity for the program.
- Maintain memberships and involvement in relevant local, state, and national organizations.
- Collaborate with other district administrators to ensure quality instructional programs.
- Other duties as assigned by the superintendent.
