The role, at a glance : The Manufacturing Test Engineer will work with both Hardware Test Engineering and Manufacturing to implement, improve and sustain repeatable test procedures for Biamp products.
How you'll contribute : Process ownership of pre-test and final test areas within Biamp's Cascade Manufacturing facility.
Ensures repeatable and safe test procedures. Evaluates test processes and equipment to ensure accurate documentation, optimal performance, and test area layouts.
Works with Hardware Test Engineering on test equipment selection and long-term strategy. Ensures all processes have accurate and reliable internal work instructions (IWI).
Respond to quality issues and out-of-control event in test areas including corrective action and subsequent continuous improvement projects.
Responsible for monitoring, recording and reporting quality and process metrics. Develops preventive maintenance procedures for all test fixtures used in Manufacturing.
Works with Hardware Test Engineering to receive training and ensure accurate documentation and fixturing for all NPI products.
Works closely with Manufacturing Engineering Technicians. Support building, designing and improving test fixtures. Interest in software development, improvements and automation a bonus (C#, VB, python).
Familiar with JTAG, flash part programming and tools used. Understanding of audio signal test methods and equipment. Proficient with windows and device configuration including NIC, serial ports, USB devices, etc.
Implement ECOs and complete ECO tasks as needed. Collaborate with Biamp Engineers to verify design for test (DFT) guidelines and to recommend any new technologies and capabilities necessary to meet new product introduction demands.
Other duties as assigned. A successful candidate should have : Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Test Engineering or related field, or 2-year degree in Electronics Technology with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing test environment.
Preferred knowledge and experience applying statistical process control (SPC) and design of experiments (DOE). Practical knowledge and demonstrated experience with Lean Manufacturing.
Organized and analytical thinker with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, and SharePoint).
Possesses excellent verbal and written skills in English communication ability. Able to multi-task and be flexible in a dynamic work environment while maintaining strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment. May be required to alternate schedules to meet production goals.
Travel may be required for training and professional development. Work environment : This is an onsite position based in Tigard, OR.
Ability to lift 10 lbs. frequently and up to 50 lbs. periodically. Stand or sit for long periods. Perform tasks (that may be repetitive) that require reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, walking, stooping and / or bending.
Work in an environment that generates OSHA permissible machine noise levels. Use tools that require fine hand skills. Visually, observe and differentiate small moving parts.
Ability to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as required in designated areas.
