The Algorithm & Analysis Engineer is responsible for the development and support of state-of-the-art algorithms involving data fusion, sensor fusion, machine learning, manned / unmanned avionics improvement programs, and genetic programming.

The Algorithm & Analysis Engineer focuses on the design, analysis, software / hardware implementation, optimization, profiling, and experimental evaluation of computer algorithms, bridging the gap between algorithm theory and practical applications of algorithms in software engineering.

Additionally, the Algorithm & Analysis Engineer conducts statistical analysis of multi-modal and time-varying data to characterize and quantify system qualities and deficiencies, resulting in recommendations and development of improvements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform data cleaning and fundamental data analysis, with guidance only as needed, generating new tools with significant reusability.
  • Design and execute algorithm tests with limited oversight.
  • Serve in a leading role in algorithm design discussions for defined portions of programs.
  • Design larger portions of algorithms and testing with minimal oversight.
  • Lead sections of technical report execution.
  • Lead discussions with sponsors for large portions of research.
  • Work with independence at sponsor sites under guidance of technical leads.
  • Materially contribute to discussions for technical journal articles and conference presentations.
  • Conduct literature searches related to research focus areas.
  • Mentor student researchers and facilitate their technical development and tasking

Additional Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will be interested in working in technical areas that include detection theory, estimation theory, RF systems analysis, adaptive array processing, and digital beamforming
  • The ideal candidate will be expected to participate in the execution of multiple simultaneous projects, including attending technical meetings, completing assigned technical tasks, collaborating with colleagues, and presenting their research to the technical team and technical sponsors.
  • Tasking will be assigned to leverage the existing skills of the candidate, to include physics-based modeling, application of advanced mathematical techniques for data processing, digital signal processing, image processing, signals analysis, radar system modeling, and radar performance prediction.
  • The ideal candidate will be expected to develop relationships with current and potential customers, and contribute to whitepapers and proposals.
  • As their career evolves, candidates will be expected to lead proposals for new business, mentor junior staff, and lead projects.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidates currently enrolled in an accredited degree program relevant to this position will be considered. The candidate must have a graduation date of no later than December, 2024.
  • Experience with radar applications, signal processing, or sensor algorithm development.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as evidenced by conference presentations or papers.
  • Experience working classified DoD or DoE projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Active TS / SCI Clearance.
  • Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, or a similar related field.
  • 3+ years of experience programming in Matlab.
  • 3+ years research experience.
  • Experience leading research and development teams.
  • Demonstrated success at securing research funding.

  • 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related degree.
  • 3 years of related experience with a Masters’ degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related degree.
  • 0 years of related experience with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or other related degree.

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the U.S. federal government, candidates for this position must be U.S. Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
