Summary
Compiles technical and general data, reports and maps for use by Tribal Resources Planner in developing land-use and economic development decisions, maintains daily and long-term calendars, schedules appointments and maintains a daily log of activities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Catalog and Maintain Departmental map files, updating maps related to road systems, housing infrastructure, land use, and zoning, proposed economic development planning.
- Responds to inquiries from community members and when necessary forwards to appropriate department.
- Maintains Planner's calendar, arranges travel schedules and itinerary, coordinates meetings of the Planner, prepares agenda, arranges for facilities, and maintains minutes of meetings.
- Organizes and maintains departmental files and routes incoming / outgoing mail.
- Prepares departmental correspondence, orders and maintains office supplies arranges for equipment maintenance.
- Assists as a liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and Tribal Council officials in developing infrastructure plans.
- Assists in resolving citizen and customer issues
- Assist in conducting field evaluations and assessments of Tribal infrastructure
- Collects a variety of statistical data and prepare reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to create graphic designs, development strategies, and render site plans via sketches and / or computer graphics highly desirable.
- Creative problem-solving skills to gather relevant information to solve practical problems and address Tribal members’ inquiries and concerns
- Ability to facilitate in-person and virtual public participation activities
Qualifications
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be insurable
- Familiarity with Geographic Information System (GIS) software for capturing, storing, checking, and displaying data related to positions on Earth’s surface streets, buildings, and vegetation is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Google Earth satellite imagery software to render 3D representations on Earth is highly desirable
- Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, and Word is highly desirable
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and be insurable
- Oral communication and interpersonal skills to explain rules and procedures clearly to the public
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Must be able to successfully pass DPS / FBI fingerprint background check
- Must be COVID-19 vaccinated, or must obtain by the completion of the 120 day training period.
Education and / or Experience
- Associates degree in related field is preferred, completion of trade school, professional or technical certification, specialized training
- 1-year equivalent to at least TS-4, 6-months specialized work experience, 3-years work experience in related field or 2-years supervisory work experience
