Summary :
A global AMLAW ranked law practice is seeking an IP Docketing Specialist that is experienced in U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution docketing.
Position can be housed in any of the following CA offices : Downtown Los Angeles, Century City, Orange County, Del Mar, San Diego, San Francisco, or Silicon Valley office.
The ideal candidate will have 3+ years' in U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution docketing experience.
The IP Docketing Specialist will be responsible for maintaining deadlines and accurate data in the docketing database on client matters pertaining to trademark prosecution.
This position will also be responsible for maintaining electronic files in the IP document management system. This position will report directly to the Director of IP Administration and will work closely with the IP attorneys and staff.
Primary Responsibilities and Expectations :
- Review all incoming client mail (including U.S. Mail, e-mail, courier packages, faxes) for the IP group that relates to trademark matters to determine due dates or reminder dates that need to be entered into Firm's computerized docketing database.
- Process and forward information regarding each date entered into the docketing database to the appropriate individuals.
- Enter all due dates, reminder dates and annotate all entries, as appropriate, into the docketing database.
- Save appropriate communications in the IP document management system.
- Review USPTO filing acknowledgement receipts and outgoing Client and Foreign Associate correspondence and update docketing database accordingly by closing / adding appropriate comments and docket dates.
- Prepare reports for attorneys and staff, as needed
- Follow up on daily dockets to ensure that they have satisfied all the day's due dates; inform Director of IP Administration and Responsible / Billing attorney if any have not yet been satisfied by close of business each day
- Update all information in docketing database on a daily basis as indicated by attorneys / staff or as indicated from client / foreign associate correspondence
- Assist other docket specialists in double-checking to ensure all dates docketed by that specialist are accurate
Essential Functions of Job :
- Full knowledge of U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution lifecycle process
- Maintaining accurate data in the docketing database in a high volume, fast paced practice while timely identifying and prioritizing time sensitive matters
- Maintaining electronic files in IP document management system
- Follow the Firm’s best practices and protocols regarding IP docketing on a daily basis
- Clear and transparent communication with the attorneys, staff and Director of IP Administration regarding all matters related to docketing
Qualifications and Experience :
- Minimum of 3 years of comprehensive U.S. and Foreign trademark prosecution docketing experience
- Thorough knowledge of procedures and practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Regular, predictable, and timely attendance
- Strong critical thinking skills and ability to troubleshoot
- Clear and concise communication skills
- Knowledge of TTAB rules
- Additional experience with U.S. and Foreign patent prosecution docketing
Education : High School Diploma
High School Diploma
Computer / Software Knowledge :
- Knowledge of and experience with any docketing software (i.e. CPI, Inprotech, Foundation IP, IP Manager)
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Knowledge of and experience with resources such as TDSR, WIPO Madrid System, and other International IP law databases.
Annual Salary / Compensation :
Salary is up to 107K (DOE / DOQ).
