Position Summary
Laurel School is seeking an experienced HR Generalist to support day to day HR operations. This full-time, 12-month position will have exposure to all phases of the employment cycle from recruitment to separation.
Key responsibilities include HR, benefits and payroll responsibilities while interacting with employees at all levels including faculty, staff, administrators, coaches, and student employees in a fast-paced environment.
Having the ability to successfully multi-task several projects, tasks and responsibilities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality is critical.
Duties and responsibilities include :
Human Resources :
- Provide concierge-level customer service to the Laurel community responding to requests within 24 hours.
- Lead smooth, timely and welcoming onboarding of new employees including processing fingerprints, continuous management and tracking of all pre-employment steps and communication plan with new hire and manager through hire.
Maintain contact with faculty throughout the summer. May provide informal tours.
- Manage all job postings include posting on various sites and create and maintain connections with colleges, universities, and community organizations to increase the pipeline for diverse applicants.
- Participate as interviewer / screener on hiring committees as requested.
- Create and revise job descriptions.
- Maintain data in the HRIS system. Ensure data is up to date and accurate including but not limited to licensure and compliance, all payroll data, training, address updates, document storage, etc.
- Compiles and maintain detailed information for school compliance.
- Ability to design and generate reports out of the HRIS system.
- Provides employee counseling.
- Support managers with employee relations issues.
- Ability to follow, complete and update new hire, benefits, termination, etc. checklists accurately and timely.
- Maintain accurate paper and digital files. Continue efforts to digitalize existing files by regularly scanning and organizing documents.
- Monitor performance management system completions including check ins and evaluations giving regular updates to management.
- Launch and monitor training system completions giving regular updates to management.
- Prepare and distribute employment agreements for students, coaches, afterschool and Summer at Laurel. Assist with preparation and distribution of faculty and staff agreements.
- Annual coordination of data for school association surveys. Completion of surveys.
- Special projects as assigned such as state mandated funds, flu shot clinic, 403(b) committee, etc.
- Update and maintain the employee handbook in collaboration with the HR Director
- Primary contact for student work permits.
- Assist with opening of the school year tasks such as new employee orientation, creation of fire drill lists, employee mailboxes, etc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Benefits :
- Benefits administration including enrollments, changes and terminations. Manage COBRA.
- Assist with the annual benefits open enrollment process including reviewing completed enrollments for changes, processing changes with carriers and troubleshooting and resolving errors.
- Maintain the Employee Navigator database.
- Troubleshoot EDI errors between payroll and benefit carriers.
- Advise employees on benefits information and process monthly benefit bills.
- Assist Director with the 403(b) audit.
- Complete the PCORI filing.
- Other duties as assigned.
Payroll :
- Accurately and efficiently process payroll.
- Review timecards to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies with managers.
- Maintain the database including payroll policy and holiday updates, pay and benefit updates, time off approvals, etc. Ensure necessary information is sent to carriers and internal constituents.
- Manage attendance tracking to ensure time off buckets are calculated correctly and updated annually with changing contract percentages, position changes, etc.
Assist employees with corrections.
- Primary contact with payroll provider for updating, maintaining and troubleshooting the system.
- Review W2s and 1095c forms for accuracy; make corrections where necessary.
- Complete unemployment claims and verifications of employment.
- Timely reconciliation and funding of retirement assets and HSA contributions.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business administration, human resources, psychology or similar field. Minimum of four years' human resources experience, preferably in an educational or non-profit setting.
Payroll experience required. Experience with HRIS; Paylocity preferred. Employee navigator experience preferred. PHR or SHRM certification is highly desirable.
Demonstrated knowledge of employment law, procedures and practices. Understanding of plan documents necessary. This position will require evening or weekend availability at times.

Travel requirements : 5-20% between campuses
