The Cost Accounting Analyst is a key member of the plant leadership team. This position manages and performs plant accounting functions providing all financial information about plant activities that will be used by m management to operate the plant, and make educated economic decisions about the plant's future.
This position requires the ability to analyze and interpret complex financial and operational data lead efforts to identify cost reduction and productivity recommendations by partnering with the plant leadership team and other functional areas.
The Financial Analyst must also have the interpersonal skills to successfully lead a team and collaborate with others to implement recommendations and drive change initiatives.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties of Cost Accounting Analyst :
- Analyze overhead cost of sales and actual manufacturing costs compared to budget, forecast and prior periods. Prepares periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs, and reports factors affecting prices and profitability of products.
- Cost Accounting Analyst provides thoughtful analytical metrics and identifies areas of focus for cost saving.
- Coordinate and lead physical inventories and ensure inventory is reported accurately.
- Responsibility for ensuring plant fixed assets and repairs are appropriately accounted for, including preparation or review of capital expenditure requests.
- Cost Accounting Analyst has oversight of processes that impact the financial information are performed accurately.
- Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems, assets, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
- Proactively identifies manufacturing cost trends that impact the business and financial results. Works closely with the Plant Manager to produce accurate and timely financial analysis.
- Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
Requirements for Cost Accounting Analyst :
- Bachelors degree in Finance or Accounting
- 3+ years of experience with cost accounting experience and exposure in a manufacturing environment
- Proficient with MS Office : Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Interpersonal skills; organization skills and multi-tasking ability
- Communication skills (verbal and written) with people at all levels of the organization and external contacts; Professionally assertive
- Strong decision making and problem solving skills, with an emphasis on innovative and creative solutions that result in higher profitability
