As an Electrical Engineering Manager on the Atlas team, you will guide a medium-sized team in the design, build, and troubleshooting of compact electrical systems in robots.
You will have ownership of all aspects of robot design from initial prototyping to production engineering and beyond.
If you are interested in applying for this job, please make sure you meet the following requirements as listed below.
How You Will Make An Impact
- Work within and mentor a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, and software engineers to design and support complex robotic systems.
- Receive objective-based assignments and determine resources to meet schedules and goals.
- Collaborate with other managers and engineers on hard design problems, work across disciplines to understand failure modes, and design tests to validate design performance.
- Support the entire component lifecycle from concept design, prototype build, and volume production implementation.
- Design and develop new and novel features for existing products.
- Troubleshoot and root cause challenging electrical and systems problems.
- Oversee the sustaining engineering of existing robotics product systems.
- Troubleshoot issues, perform root cause failure analysis, and design and implement corrective and preventative solutions.
- Oversee and often perform the design and release of components and systems using Altium.
- Oversee the development of production and support documentation including bills of material (BoMs), Gerber files, assembly drawings, and maintenance instructions.
- Work with manufacturing, suppliers, machinists, contract manufacturers, and logistics to guarantee that the right electromechanical systems are assembled and functional in the right place at the right time.
- Plan and / or direct verification and validation activities on prototype and production systems.
- Oversee and / or perform system design analyses, including reliability, design-for-manufacture, design-for-assembly, cost-takeout, etc.
We Are Looking For
- Experience managing an engineering team in a product development environment.
- Proven track record of delivering product to market on aggressive timelines while working within a product development process.
- Strong systems engineering fundamentals and experience with battery-powered electrical systems.
- Experience designing motion control systems with sensors, actuators, and complex mechanisms.
- Experience designing for test, reliability, and manufacturing, including development of both test and performance specifications along with manufacturing interactions.
- Familiarity with PLM systems (Arena preferred) and ECO process.
- Experience with 8D problem solving or other root cause analysis tools.
- Experience designing systems that are used in industrial settings.
- A working knowledge of DFM / A, Six Sigma, and statistical tolerance analysis.
- A working knowledge of structured problem-solving methods including 8D and Ishikawa diagrams (fishbone).
- A working knowledge of failure avoidance methods including DFMEA / PFMEA and fault tree analysis.
- High level of technical writing proficiency (specs, test plans, reports, white papers, etc.).
Nice To Have
- Demonstrated experience using schematic capture and PCB layout software.
- Firmware development in C.
- Experience with volume manufacturing.
- Experience with Python, LabView, or MATLAB.
- Working understanding of EMC / EMI testing and troubleshooting.
