Job Title : Cabinet Maker / Carpenter

Location : MT Zion Illinois

Reports To : Production Manager / Shop Foreman

Job Overview : As a Cabinet Maker / Carpenter, you will be responsible for the construction, assembly, and installation of custom cabinetry and wood furniture.

You will utilize woodworking machinery, hand tools, and detailed plans to produce high-quality wood products for residential and commercial projects.

Key Responsibilities :

• Cabinet Construction : Read blueprints, technical drawings, or specifications to understand the project requirements. Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood or wood substitutes to build cabinets, furniture, or related products.
• Material Selection : Choose appropriate materials, including wood types, veneers, and finishes, to meet design and structural requirements.
• Machinery Operation : Safely operate woodworking machinery such as saws, routers, drills, planers, and sanders.
• Assembly & Installation : Assemble cabinet components using nails, screws, dowels, adhesives, and other joinery methods.

Install finished cabinets and furniture at residential or commercial job sites, ensuring proper alignment and functionality.

• Finishing Work : Apply stains, paints, or finishes to completed projects, ensuring a smooth, durable, and aesthetically pleasing surface.
• Quality Control : Inspect completed products for accuracy, quality, and craftsmanship. Make necessary adjustments to meet specifications.
• Maintenance : Maintain and clean tools, machinery, and workspaces to ensure safety and operational efficiency.
• Safety & Compliance : Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines while working with tools and equipment.

Qualifications :

• Experience : Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a Cabinet Maker or Carpenter, with a focus on custom cabinetry or furniture making.
• Skills :
• Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and shop drawings.
• Knowledge of various wood species and material properties.
• Ability to use and maintain woodworking machinery and hand tools.
• Strong attention to detail and precision.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Physical Requirements :
• Ability to lift heavy materials (up to 50 lbs).
• Comfortable standing, bending, and working in various positions for extended periods.
• Strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
• Education : High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a carpentry apprenticeship or vocational training in woodworking is preferred.

Work Environment :

• Typically in a woodshop or manufacturing environment with occasional on-site installations.
• Regular exposure to sawdust, noise, and machinery.
