The Steamboat Mountain School is searching for a culinary professional to lead our upper campus, grades 9-12, dining program.
The school’s kitchen is known for an innovative, healthy, fresh and unique menu. The culinary team can expect to serve between 150-225 meals daily between breakfast, lunch and dinner during the school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Dean of Students, Head of School and DFO on development of campus meal schedules and culinary philosophy.
- Develop and publish weekly menus for lunch and dinner service that consider nutritional and dietary needs as well as a variety of food preferences.
- Plan and service community dinners as well as special event meals.
- Organize, plan and lead meal preparation for breakfast, lunch and dinner services, open 7 days a week during the academic year.
- Promote a positive and friendly atmosphere with students, faculty, guests and staff.
- Manage the kitchen staff work schedules.
- Manage all food orders and deliveries.
- Manage the kitchen budget in conjunction with the Director of Finance and Operations.
- Potentially lead kitchen elective class or other student activities.
- Organize and schedule kitchen cleaning, ensuring all health and safety standards are maintained.
- Meet with the County health inspector and ensure the school kitchen passes all inspections and code requirements.
- Responsible for the sanitary condition of the kitchen and kitchen storage areas.
- Manage the delivery, set up, service and clean up of meals for off-site special events and functions.
- Follow all policies including MSDS, safety, and sanitation.
Qualification Requirements
- 3-5 years of restaurant leadership experience.
- Culinary school training preferred but not required.
- Extensive work experience in busy restaurant kitchens and / or catering and special events.
- A love of food and an interest in working with students.
- A collaborative attitude and ability to work effectively with colleagues.
- Interest in working a diverse and varied schedule.
- Well organized with great attention to detail.
- A high level of integrity, accuracy and work ethic.
- Willingness to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Sense of humor, optimism, and possess a growth-mindset.
- Must successfully complete a background check.
- Current ServSafe Manager certification or willingness to acquire ASAP.
Compensation and Benefits
Steamboat Mountain School offers a rich and comprehensive benefits package.
Salary range : $45,000 - $55,000 depending on experience.
