Job Description
The Director of Community Impact is involved in all aspects of developing and maintaining partnerships with non-academic institutions, community leaders, and stakeholders across the Twin Cities, specifically Brooklyn Park, Brooklyn Center, and the northwest suburbs.
The Director will ensure that community engagement work is rooted in sustained and meaningful relationships with the local community and maximizes existing institutional efforts.
The incumbent is responsible for optimizing the College’s approach to civic and community engagement by overseeing the execution and expansion of pioneering efforts to bring external resources to NHCC.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Working knowledge of the relationship between community partners.
- Experience working with grants and other external funding sources.
- Evidence of commitment to the success of culturally, ethnically, and racially diverse populations.
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in higher education.
- Knowledge of project management principles.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple constituencies, including business and industry partners, community-based organizations and internal personnel.
- The ability to prepare and disseminate organized and meaningful information in written format and in presentations.
- Demonstrated familiarity with and commitment to the mission of a community college.
- Ability to work well under pressure and respond to multiple demands.
- Successful experience in strategic planning.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Knowledge of institution and state policies and procedures and state and federal regulations sufficient to ensure compliance in all facets of the program.
- Human relations skills sufficient to manage collaborations and build consensus.
- Manage the expectations of customers, stakeholders and project staff.
- Effectively communicate, in writing and orally, technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
- Listen actively to stakeholder concerns and respond appropriately.
Other Requirements
Work Shift (Hours / Days of work) : Monday Friday 8 : 00 a.m. 4 : 30 p.m. Some nights and weekends may be required.
Telework : Opportunity for partial telework based on the department’s needs.
