Bennett Aerospace Inc., a subsidiary of Three Saints Bay, LLC, and a Federal Government Contractor industry leader, is seeking a Launch Equipment Test Facility Engineer VI at the Kennedy Space Center, Florida The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient hands-on engineer with a solid background in hazardous testing, effective operations and testing leadership, and operations and maintenance experience with large and / or distributed mechanical / fluid systems.

Knowledge and skills in cryogenic / pneumatic operations, pressure system design / assembly (ASME compliance) and demonstrated strength in leadership and management of complex projects and project teams.

Position Responsibilities :

The ideal candidate is an experienced, self-sufficient hands-on engineer with a solid background in hazardous testing, effective operations and testing leadership, and operations and maintenance experience with large and / or distributed mechanical / fluid systems.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas : Ten or more (+) years in cryogenic / pneumatic operations, pressure system design / assembly (ASME compliance) and demonstrated strength in leadership and management of complex projects and project teams.

Under the direction of a supervisor, the engineer will serve as a test engineer, test conductor, project lead, and engineering team lead providing support and leadership for operations and technology development on aerospace ground support / testing equipment for the Ground Systems Support group at Kennedy Space Center's (KSC) Launch Equipment Test Facility (LETF).

The engineer will be responsible for mentoring less experienced engineers, technical leadership, readiness, and integrity of facility systems for testing, operational risk management, and customer communications.

Engineering responsibilities include development of safe test methods, authoring maintenance and testing procedures, accurate setup and execution of tests, and objective performance assessment of test articles.

Testing methods include lifting, proof loading, and operating mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and cryogenic components, umbilical’s, and launch accessories.

Supports design and leads implementation of facility upgrades and supporting system modifications to enhance test capability.

Interfaces with technicians across a wide range of trade skills to fabricate, install, and operate complex fixtures and equipment used in testing.

Position Requirements :

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering plus twelve or more (+) of progressive and relevant hands-on experience, with a strong emphasis on mechanical / fluids systems in an operational and / or test environment.
  • Experience as a test conductor and test engineer.
  • Experience authoring detailed operational procedures incorporating technical, quality, and safety elements.
  • Effective task / project management, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with MS Office products.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and team skills
  • Experience with developing system requirements, test requirements and plans, and procurement specifications.
  • Experience working with high pressure pneumatic systems using nitrogen and helium, and cryogenic systems using liquid hydrogen and liquid nitrogen.
  • Specific familiarity with KSC Pressure Vessels and Systems standard KNPR 9. and KSC lifting standard KNPR class "MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle" style "margin-bottom : l0 level1 lfo1;">

Familiarity with Pro / E - Creo, AutoCAD or equivalent CAD / CAE system.

  • General familiarity with KSC / space launch ground support equipment, processes, procedures, and documentation.
  • Experience working with Maximo.
  • This position requires working with other team leaders in guiding the efforts of other less experienced engineers, technicians, and subcontractors, working closely with peers, and supporting NASA and other customers.
