Overview The Athletics Operations Assistant will assist the Department of Athletics in supporting the day to day administration and guidance of Macalester's 21 varsity sports programs, club sports, intramural and recreational programs.
- This position provides exposure to a variety of areas within the department of athletics including : strategic planning;
- budget management; alumni engagement; fundraising; contest management; compliance; sport oversight; student-athlete welfare issues and initiatives;
academics; diversity and inclusion initiatives; and staff oversight / management.

Responsibilities Assists the Director of Athletics and department leadership in supporting the day to day administrative operations for Macalester’s varsity athletic, club, intramural and recreational programs.
The intern will see all aspects of the underbelly of athletics including the implementation process for the strategic plan for the Department of Athletics and Recreation.
Provides support for game day operations, compliance, alumni engagement and serves in an advisory role with the Macalester's Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
Contributes to the planning, promotion and organization of departmental special events (annual golf fundraising tournament, Hall of Fame dinner, special game day promotions and the spring sports recognition banquet) as well as any post season championships or competitions.
Supports Department DEI initiatives, participates on the departments DEI team, advises a student athletic affinity group or SAAC.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Athletics Administration, Sports Management, Business
- 1-3 years of related athletics operations experience.
- Ability to review data and manipulate or produce information in spreadsheets.
- Strong computer skills and proficiency in website management, statistical software, desktop publishing, and social media.
- Support to the Director of Athletics, creating and finishing projects and reports, organizing meetings and support for departmental events.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
Compensation :
This position was made possible through the NCAA’s Ethnic Minority and Women’s Internship Grant. The hourly wage for this position will be depending on experience.
