We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as the Chief Operating Officer at Lovelace Medical Group. POSITION SUMMARY The Chief Operating Officer (COO) position at Lovelace Medical Group (LMG) is an ideal opportunity for an experienced, ambitious health care professional who is seeking a meaningful leadership role in a successful, for-profit health care organization.
The COO must be hands-on and lead by example and motivate staff to deliver measurable, accountable, cost-effective results that further the mission of the organization.
The COO will be an integral member of LMG’s senior management team and will oversee and direct all internal operations at each of LMG’s 20+ clinic sites.
In addition, the COO will be an essential contributor to the Lovelace Health System’s growth planning process and will help shape the future of a fast growing, financially healthy, well-respected clinic organization.
Reporting to the CEO and working as a key member of the organization’s leadership team, the COO will take a lead role in building, implementing, and overseeing all of the organization’s systems, processes, workflows, and procedures.
The COO will have bottom line responsibility for leading and managing all operational and administrative aspects of the organization.
The COO will be responsible for a comprehensive array of administrative services and operations, including but not limited to, overseeing all activities pertaining to communications, other operations that are required to effectively and efficiently support and collaborate with LHS’s Hospital leaders ensuring the growth and development of key service lines.
In conjunction with the CEO, the COO will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the annual budget, and for ensuring that LMG’s services and funding are in compliance with all national, state, and city regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.
Responsibilities Planning and Organizational Effectiveness Develop strategy, business plans and the infrastructure necessary to assure operations that are effective, service-responsive, and efficient for all areas of report.
Participate in negotiations relative to the arrangements that would impact the Lovelace Medical Group with respect to quality of care for all patients, capital equipment requests specific to maintaining the construction and consumer appeal of all entities and successful operational impact for LMG.
Participate in the planning of LMG programs across clinical services. Operations Management Establish and maintain effective oversight for all reporting functions including the selection, employment, compensation and evaluation of all employees in the Lovelace Medical Group.
Work closely with Human Resources and the Physician Recruitment staff to attract and retain top talent. Maintain compliance with regulations governing all reporting functions and the rules of accrediting bodies.
In collaboration with all LMG facilities, develop, implement and maintain a patient / customer service focus pervasive throughout the operations of LMG.
Monitor and trend feedback for physicians and staff. Measure patient satisfaction for services rendered, respond to patient complaints and resolve problems leading to complaints.
Monitor and improve, through action plans and data trending, a high level of satisfaction from consumers Develop both statistical and financial reporting systems that accurately reflect current practices, quality improvement and outcomes on a timely basis.
Develop and maintain effective benchmarking systems for the LMG and clinical operations. Evaluate and propose models for compensation plans that are competitive and effective, yet address the Physician needs and organizational goals.
Continually develop, recommend and oversee the implementation of tools to measure physician productivity, clinical practice guidelines and managed care strategies.
Financial Management Manage all budgetary and financial planning systems for all direct reports. Generate financial reports to meet the needs of the physicians and organization.
Develop strategies and methodologies for distributing costs (i.e. malpractice, compliance and billing). Present for review and approval all operating and capital equipment expenditure budgets Quality / Risk Management / Organizational Effectiveness Monitor costs, income, staffing, space requirements and standards of care to ensure that goals and objectives are attained.
Ensure appropriate steps are taken to improve performance. In conjunction with the Chief Physician Executive, CMO and risk management, work with providers to develop risk reduction strategies.
Support the development and standards of clinical care, critical paths, and treatment protocols that will increase the efficiency of clinical interventions, utilization review and case management.
Work with Corporate Compliance Officer to assure compliance with all regulations, accreditation, and adherence to LMG policies and standards.
Attend and serve on professional / civic service organizations as a representative of LMG. Qualifications Education and Experience : Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance or applicable discipline.
Master’s Degree preferred. Demonstrated understanding of all elements of physician practice management and health care delivery, including strategy, business planning, operations and finance.
Minimum 7 10 years directly related experience) Strong background and experience in strategy and business planning in a complex, highly competitive health care marketplace including contracting that includes capitation and sub capitation contracts and discounted pricing contracts with alternative delivery resources.
Minimum 7 10 years directly related experience) Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : Extensive knowledge in clinical information systems.
Knowledge of federal and state health services regulations and standards, including Medicare, Medicaid, third party payers and other external agencies and businesses.
Extensive experience) Knowledge in establishing productive relationships in all aspects of the health care delivery. Effective communication and ability to educate in a way that builds and maintains a climate of trust and inspires commitment from others to achieve organizational goals.
Ability to work effectively with a wide range of physicians, management and staff, as well as representatives of regulatory agencies and businesses.
