About this Position
The seasonal Lake Maintenance Worker will perform semi-skilled manual labor to complete tasks of a physically demanding nature in the areas of construction, grounds maintenance, sanitation, and lake maintenance.
Work involves responsibility for performing heavy manual labor, general construction, and relative servicing tasks for the lake area, parks, access roads, trails, and campgrounds.
This is a non-supervisory, seasonal position that may be terminated if services are no longer required.
Responsibilities
- Perform custodial duties in all areas of parks, including park facilities
- Remove full trash can bags, place in dumpster, and replace with a new liner
- Collect ground litter and place in trash receptacles
- Wash and clean public rest rooms
- Remove ashes and fire residues from fireplaces, fire rings, and charcoal grills
- Operate power equipment (including but not limited to) : gas powered commercial duty string trimmers, walk-behind lawn mowers, gas-powered backpack blowers, and gas-powered sidewalk edgers
- Operate hand tools such as a rake, shovel, pick, ax, hoe, pitchfork, broom, hammer, saw, screwdriver, wrenches, pry bar, level, etc.
- Submit service interval information to supervisor in a timely and accurate manner
Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED equivalent, or still be attending high school
- At least 16 years of age
- Valid Oklahoma Driver's License and a driving record acceptable to the City's insurance carrier
Necessary Skills
- Ability to operate simple machines
- Willingness to perform manual labor and assist with more skilled work
- Ability to safely operate landscape hand- and power-tools and motorized equipment outdoors
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to perform job duties for extended periods and during unfavorable weather
- Ability to meet the required physical standards for this position
- Ability to pass extensive background process and pre-employment drug test
