Job Description
The University of Mount Saint Vincent, School of Nursing, is seeking applicants for teaching opportunities in the Simulation at our The Bronx and Long Island City locations.
The simulation educator is responsible for working with faculty and students to ensure the highest quality simulation learning activities (high fidelity and low fidelity) are integrated and implemented across the undergraduate programs.
This is a 12-month administrative appointment 12-hour shifts (flexible).
Responsibilities
This position requires the ability to interact with co-workers and students in a professional and helpful manner. The simulation educator will conduct simulation scenarios and evaluate nursing students in one or more of the following clinical areas :
Fundamentals
Pediatric
Family Child
Medical Surgical
The simulation educator will also be responsible for :
Collaborating with the Simulation Committee and Nursing faculty to develop simulation scenarios to promote student learning, critical thinking, and clinical decision-making
Facilitating the adult learning process that creates safe and supportive learning environment
Coordinating with and supervising students to ensure that lab experiences meet course objectives
Providing individual oversight to students for practice and remediation on technical skills and competencies, as requested by faculty and students
Teaching in the high-fidelity simulation laboratories and conducting debriefing sessions after each simulation experience
Teaching clinical skills in the low fidelity laboratories (as needed)
Assisting with faculty development and training related to the use of simulation
Coordinating with the Director of Simulation and Assistant Dean of Clinical and Simulation Learning to oversee the use of the Simulation Center for regular classes, special simulation sections, open labs and advanced clinical skills sessions
Requirements
Master’s degree in Nursing
An unencumbered RN license in New York State
Strong interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills
Past experience with teaching students or in a similar role
Demonstrated ability to effectively solve problems, and work independently
Ability to represent the College in a professional manner
Ability to work with confidential information and exercise discretion
Ability to effectively collaborate with faculty, staff and leadership

The allotted salary for this position is $90,000.
