The Customs Entry Writer is responsible for processing the customs entry documentation required to move merchandise. The position also maintains customs record keeping and regulatory compliance requirements.
Performs various entry and auditing duties relevant to customs regulations.
What youll be doing : :
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Receives and reviews documentation required to process merchandise through Customs; checks for compliance with specified laws, regulations, organizational goals and standards
- Prepares entry forms (CF7501 Entry Summary and CF3461 Entry) via ABI system, to import the goods and secure release from Customs
- Ensures all documents are accurate and / or approved by Customs as required by regulations and standard policy
- Updates required documents, reports and information in systems
- Obtains warehouse booking confirmation and ensures that the merchandise is available for sale and properly accounted for
- Resolves all discrepancies discovered during the receiving process; escalates any unresolved exceptions to management for support and assistance
- Prepares required documentation for reporting all discrepancies to Customs, including timely payment of duties and taxes
- Processes Customs documentation required to move merchandise from the warehouse to final destination
- Requests inventory adjustments as needed, ensures that all inventory variances have been properly accounted for, processed internally and reported to Customs as required
- Prepares all required documents and reporting for the return of merchandise from the Distribution Center or retail outlets, though Customs, to the Distribution Center, vendor or retail outlets
- Performs file and document audits as required by Customs and company guidelines
- Responds timely and professionally to a high volume of internal and external communications received through email, telephone, or in person
- Performs other related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS :
Education and Experience :
High school diploma, 2 years of college preferred
Fluent in English (verbal and written)
Minimum of five years Customs entry processing experience
Domestic and international transportation experience
Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word-Intermediate / Advanced level
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :
Strong knowledge Customs regulations
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, using personal initiative to develop mutually beneficial results

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
Some flexibility in hours is permitted, employee must be available during the core work hours of 8 : 00 a.m. to 5 : 00 p.
m. Monday Friday and must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Physical Demands :
Office environment with frequent sitting, walking and standing, occasional climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and balancing.
Frequent use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling use of office machinery. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
Oral and auditory enabling interpersonal communication as well as communication automated devise such as the telephone.
