Pastry Cook

Summary : Assists with production and presentation of breakfast items, breads, pastries, desserts, petit fours, cakes, cookies, pies and other sugar confections for the Clubhouse and special events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities : include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Prepares and provides quality desserts and breads in large quantities according to the recipe.
  • Ensures that items are prepared and serves in accordance with established procedures, recipes, portion size and presentations standards.
  • Maintains accurate counts on all food items prepared insuring no discrepancies.
  • Checks quality of product and follows correct storage procedures.
  • Gathers and stocks ingredients and products.
  • Checks condition of equipment and devices used for cooking.
  • Completes daily assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Sets up buffets for main house and banquet events.
  • Provides service on action stations and interacts with members and guests
  • Ensures that opening and closing procedures are completed.
  • Assists with plating up desserts in banquets.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all work areas and equipment.
  • Follows safety and sanitary food handling practices to ensure the maintenance of high quality standards.
  • Adheres to all Club policy and procedures.

Education and / or Experience : One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and / or training;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills : Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills : Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.

Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
