Overview
The Hospitality Assistant will report to the Charge Nurse and work in conjunction with certified nursing assistants to ensure that residents needing only encouragement, minimal assistance, or non-medical supervision, are assisted with eating and drinking as needed.
Responsible for providing resident related (non-hands-on) care and ancillary services. Tasks will be performed only under the supervision of an RN or LPN, licensed by the Board of Nursing, who is available to provide assistance if necessary.
What you will do
Feeds and / or hydrates residents who need only encouragement, minimal assistance, or non-medical supervision. This does not include administrating medication, providing direct medical or personal care, or performing range of motion or therapeutic exercises with residents.
Duties include but are not limited to preparing dining room for meals, assisting with clothing protectors, reminding or assisting residents to their seats, passing meal trays and assisting in preparing food and drinks for eating, assisting with feeding as qualifications allow, and documenting meal consumption.
- Provides support to unit staff throughout the shift as defined by the charge nurse. Duties include but are not limited to answering call lights and responding to wanderguard alarms, cleaning dining room, distributing linen, making beds, passing ice water, transporting residents using wheelchair, cleaning utility rooms, storage areas, and resident rooms / closets / drawers, emptying soiled linen, conducting leisure activities provided for residents as described in the activity calendar and 11 activities, and encouraging residents to socialize and participate in planned activities or programs and to develop friendships with other residents.
- Recognizes changes in residents that are inconsistent with their normal behavior and the importance of reporting those changes to the supervisory nurse.
Understands the importance of good nutrition and hydration. Responds to safety and emergency procedures, including the Heimlich maneuver and alerting licensed staff to other health emergencies.
Follows universal precautions, proper infection control, sanitation, and safety standards of practice in all work and activities.

High School Diploma or GED, (Preferred)
Experience
Less than 1 year Recent relevant experience (Preferred)
