It's Time to Join Stryker!

In this role as a Design Engineer - Electrical Sustainment, you will work with other product engineers, R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing, and Project Management to ensure project success.

With coaching and mentorship, you will develop, modify, evaluate, and verify electronic components for medical devices. This is a unique opportunity to learn all areas of Stryker and to work with a variety of products.

The project timeline is fast paced, and you will work to both solve problems and create efficiencies within the Stryker Instruments product lines.

What You Will Do

  • You will perform root cause analysis and implement changes to electrical components for medical devices.
  • You will apply circuit and electrical system test methods.
  • You will assist with failure analysis and bench testing.
  • You will support problem solving, identify potential solutions, and evaluate them against requirements.
  • You will seek to understand customer needs and how design inputs change as the industry grows.
  • You will understand the product's intended use and clinical procedures.
  • You will understand fundamental industry standards, design requirements and test strategies which align with regulatory requirements.
  • With supervision , you will update, create, and refine engineering documentation, such as the Design History file per company design control procedures.
  • You will learn R&D procedures like design controls and risk management, per the Quality Management System.
  • You will work cooperatively with R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Clinical, Marketing and Project Management to ensure continued success of Instruments product lines in the field.
  • You will learn procedures, policies, processes, systems, and technology required.
  • You will work on problems in limited scope; purposefully learn while gaining experience.

What You Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline required
  • 0+ years of work experience required.

What We Would Love That You Have (Preferred Qualifications)

You do not need to have ALL of these)

  • Basic knowledge of electrical components and manufacturing methods.
  • Basic ability to read and interpret electrical drawings.
  • Basic understanding of the electrical design process.
  • Knowledge of design and concept generation CAD, CAE, or simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of analysis tools and statistical methods.
  • Knowledge of system components and associated requirements.
  • Understands the basic theory and methods of component selection and can apply them under supervision.
  • Ability to understand industry trends and utilize industry standard tools to identify end of life cycle components.
  • Understanding of different component parameters and their technical significance.
  • Ability to find alternative components by performing parametric comparison with existing component.
  • Proficiency in circuit schematics with ability to run electrical simulations to propose right alternates.
  • Proficiency in documentation and data analysis with sound understanding of change control process.
