Position Summary

The Fleet Manager is a key resource for Fraley & Schilling by planning, directing, and controlling operational functions, supervising, and coordinating the activities of company employees and guiding quality, efficiency, and productivity improvement efforts.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Plans, directs, and controls operational functions of team members assigned to his / her team
  • Manages fleet productivity by tracking critical performance indicators (including, but not limited to : revenue, pay, attendance, maintenance, etc)
  • Recommends and implements appropriate plans for improvement (corrective action)
  • Assists drivers with day-to-day personal, financial, productivity, training, and service needs, reviewing and reconciling related reports
  • Manages the transportations software (TMW) used by F&S to track, account, and manage the driver force.
  • This includes, but is not limited to : accuracy of data entry, driver and / or customer information, documentation of driver and / or customer issues, etc
  • Proactively resolves and minimizes problems as related to driver retention.
  • Assists with and / or handles counseling, training, communication, and disciplinary actions.
  • Creates and maintains strong driver / operational relationships and active in conflict management / resolution on an ongoing basis
  • Continuously seeks to improve departmental quality, efficiency, and productivity standards
  • Assists in creating and / or revising company processes, tools, and resources, etc.
  • Assists in creating and / or revising job descriptions, pay scales, etc
  • Assists in creating and / or revising SOP
  • Participates in Operations Focus Groups, staff meetings, driver reviews, driver conferences, driver appreciation functions, etc
  • Supervises and coordinates activities of his / her driver team
  • Monitors employees performance, prepares and conducts employee performance appraisals
  • Assigns, schedules, and reviews work, ensuring that all areas are adequately covered
  • Establishes goals and work standards
  • Administers company policies and procedures

Skills & Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirement : Proficient computer skills
  • Preferred : Experience with Omnitracs
  • Preferred : Experience with Google applications (docs, sheets, presentations)
  • Minimum Requirement : Must actively support corporate values, and demonstrate a proactive commitment to the success of all staff
  • Preferred : Ability to think creatively and provide creative contributions to projects
  • Minimum Requirement : Ability to work independently and carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given
  • Minimum Requirement : Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Minimum Requirement : Must be analytical with the ability to apply data
  • Minimum Requirement : Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree or higher or equivalent experience, preferred
  • Experience in responding to internal and external customer situations, responding to customer needs as required
  • Firm understanding of the commercial transportation industry with a strong working knowledge of operations, logistics and transportation principles

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
  • Must be able to walk up and down stairs
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to speak clearly on the phone

Schedule : Monday - Friday (shift revolves around a 9.5 hour work day including 1 hour lunch break)

Annual Salary Range : $44,000 - $47,000 (depending on experience)
