Interior Designer

Ware Malcomb has an exciting opportunity for an Interior Designer to join our Interior Design team in Chicago! Interior Designers are responsible for the development of space plans, concepts, creation of program documents, finish plans, specifications, and material selections for interior design projects.

The Interior Designer position at Ware Malcomb provides a unique opportunity to work on diverse projects, supporting project team across the firms 28 office locations.

Our portfolio includes workplace, retail, mixed use, hospitality and healthcare projects.

Responsibilities :

• Prepares and conducts client presentations while meeting project goals.
• Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with clients.
• Follow projects from inception through construction in order to maintain design quality and intent.
• Conducts programming efforts to facilitate space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment.
• Responsible for selection and specification of FFE, all finish materials and artwork. Understands material requirements and preliminary costs.
• Supports the Construction Administration phase responding to RFI’s, CO’s, and reviews shop drawings.
• Keeping the project team on schedule and on budget while providing a cohesive design.
• Coordinates with Project Managers.
• May mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff in correctly documenting design.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, industry partners, and Ware Malcomb employees.
• Implements and uses the best practices of Ware Malcomb for all projects and processes.
• Communicate with clients, consultants, contractors, industry partners, and Ware Malcomb employees.
• Contributes in office activities and involved in design community organizations.

Qualifications :

• 7+ years' experience in Interior Architecture & Design
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
• Ability to create complete presentation packages is essential.
• Proficiency in the basic technical skills of interior design including the following computer skills :
• Proficiency in Deltek Vision.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Proficiency in Newforma.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD / Architectural Desktop.
• Proficiency in Revit.
• Proficiency in Adobe Suite and Sketch up graphic software.
• Knowledge of 3D rendering software such as Enscape and Lumion preferred.
• Advanced knowledge of building regulations and safety codes.
