We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Corrosion Engineer to join our team. Theprimary responsibility of this role is to manage vehicle-level and component-level corrosiontests, ensuring the durability and reliability of Rivian products.
The ideal candidate will have afoundational understanding of corrosion processes, materials science, and testing methodologies,and will work under the guidance of senior engineers to execute and analyze corrosion tests.
Key Responsibilities : Manage Vehicle-Level Corrosion Tests : -Plan, coordinate, and execute corrosion tests on full vehicles.
Monitor test conditions and ensure that testing protocols are strictly followed.-Collect, document, analyze and communicate test data to identify corrosionissues.
Manage Component-Level Corrosion Tests : -Design and implement corrosion tests for individual vehicle components.-Work closely with design and materials teams to select appropriate test methodsand materials.
Analyze test results and provide recommendations for material or designimprovements.Data Analysis and Reporting : -Analyze corrosion test data and compile detailed reports.
Present findings to the engineering team, highlighting potential risks andsuggested corrective actions.Maintain accurate records of all tests, procedures, and results.
Collaboration and Communication : -Work closely with cross-functional teams, including materials, design, andreliability engineers, to ensure that corrosion resistance is considered in the earlystages of product development.
Communicate effectively with senior engineers and management to reportprogress and discuss technical challenges.Continuous Improvement : -Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to laboratory corrosiontesting processes and methodologies.
Stay updated on the latest corrosion testing standards, technologies, and bestpractices. Qualifications : Master's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or a relatedfield.
Basic understanding of corrosion mechanisms, materials science, and testing procedures.Experience with corrosion testing methods, such as salt spray tests, humidity tests, andcyclic corrosion tests, is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.Preferred Qualifications : -Internship or co-op experience in corrosion engineering or a related field.
