About the opportunity SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking a Senior Architectural History Team Lead to support our South region, encompassing our New Mexico / Four Corners, Central Texas / Oklahoma, Gulf Coast, and Southeast subregions.

The Team Lead is a core member of the Cultural Resources program and will collaborate with SWCA’s managers, Directors, and Vice Presidents on technical and business development efforts throughout the region.

The Team Lead will develop new business, manage large-scale projects, meet financial goals, and mentor others to do the same.

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position with full benefits, bonuses and employee stock ownership. This position is eligible for REMOTE work arrangement for applicants physically located in SWCA's South Region, and will be affiliated with any of the following offices in our South region : Durango, Albuquerque, Austin, San Antonio, Arlington, Houston, Baton Rouge, Pensacola, Jacksonville, and Raleigh.

Travel within SWCA's South Central / Gulf Coast and Southeast Region will be required, up to 25%. SWCA Environmental Consultants is a growing, 1,600 staff, employee-owned firm, providing a full-spectrum of environmental services.

Workload level and coordinate national efforts with other regional leads. Developing and managing project budgets and project staff;

leading architectural history proposal and marketing efforts. Working independently or leading a project team, conducting historic resource surveys, assessments, and evaluations according to local, state, and federal criteria of significance.

Project implementation to include staffing, research, fieldwork, report writing, and Quality Assurance / Quality Control (QA / QC) review.

Preparation of defensible compliance documentation in support of NHPA / Section 106 review. Carrying out project-level review for compliance with the Secretary of the Interior's Standards.

Assisting local governments with creating and revising planning regulations, including historic preservation ordinances.

Identify and evaluate sales opportunities (prospects and proposals) and make recommendations to the Directors; lead proposal efforts.

Network within industry organizations to expand the regional client base in line with the region’s strategic goals. Experience and qualifications for success A Master’s Degree in architectural history, historic preservation, or a closely related field.

Meets Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualifications Standards in Architectural History (36 CFR Part 61). A working knowledge of federal and state cultural resource and historic preservation laws and practices, including NEPA, Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience conducting research, writing, and consulting in American architectural history with a consulting firm, agency, or other professional organization.

Demonstrated experience in supervising, mentoring, and providing leadership for other professionals. Demonstrated business development success and consulting acumen, including established credibility with federal and state reviewing agencies and clients, as well as success in proposal writing.

Primary report authorship in a CRM context and experience providing quality control review of field documents, site forms, and reports.

Knowledge of the history and architectural history of the Southern U.S. Preferred Qualifications Experience with application of The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation (36 CFR Part 67) and Historic American Buildings Survey / Historic American Engineering Record documentation and procedures are preferred.

Experience working on a variety of project types and sizes, on all project aspects (from pre-field tasks through final report preparation), in multiple regions, and with a variety of regulatory agencies.

An employee in this South Region based position can expect a salary of $87,412-$114,062 / year. Actual pay within this range may depend on physical location, experience, qualifications, geographic location, client requirements where applicable, and other factors permitted by law.
