We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Manager, Purchasing- Food and Nutrition.
Oversees the day to day operations of the purchasing department for the Food and Nutrition Services at the Tisch / Kimmel / Science campus of NYU Langone Health.
This position ensures that an adequate inventory of food and non-food supplies is on hand by controlling the purchasing, receiving, requisitioning, and disbursement processes.
Adheres to and promotes the mission, vision and values of the Food and Nutrition Services Department and NYU Langone Health.

Job Responsibilities :
- Manages by providing positive and constructive feedback, and performance evaluations to employees and managers to reward, coach, correct and motivate.
- Ensures a high level of employee engagement and satisfaction by facilitating a positive work environment, open lines of communication, and culture of excellence.
- Maintains sanitary, safe, and efficient operation in accordance with all regulatory bodies and department policies
- Executes and implements departmental QIA standards by ensuring quality food and service.
- Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and counseling of management and staff, union and exempt.
- Responsible for scheduling and completing payroll functions.
- Ensures that all staff members complete required organizational and compliance training.
- Oversee and place daily orders (food, beverages, nutrition supplies, feeding supplies and equipment, etc.)
- Support in operations and catering events
- Manages a team of one supervisor who oversees a team of 10 store room attendants
- Monitor stock levels and identify purchasing needs;
- Work closely with vendors;
- Manages vacation and time request of the procurement team
- Works closely with Culinary team to ensure proper par levels
- Manages proper equipment inventory levels
- Track orders and ensure timely delivery
- Have knowledge of HACCP and general food safety guidelines;
- Update internal order guides with order details;
- Maintain updated records of invoices, budget levels, and waste sheets;
- Follow-up with suppliers as needed to confirm or change orders;
- Liaise with receiving staff to ensure products arrive in good conduction; and / or
- Monitor weekly inventory counts.
Minimum Qualifications :
To qualify you must have a Bachelors Degree
2-3 years of management experience in a purchasing or foodservice setting
Servsafe Certification (within 6 months of hire)
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
