SENIOR SERVICES COORDINATOR

Join an award winning Library! The Schaumburg Township District Library is looking for a Senior Services Coordinator to join our team.

This opportunity offers excellent benefits working 37.5 hours a week and will include occasional nights and weekends as needed.

The annual salary range for this position is $47600$59495 based on skills and qualifications. Our schedules are based on the needs of the library and could change if and when needed.

Position Summary :

The Senior Services Coordinator is responsible for strengthening and nurturing relationships between senior residents local organizations that serve seniors and the Library.

The Senior Services Coordinator creates and delivers specialized services and programs to seniors that directly address senior needs and help fulfill the Library’s mission.

The Senior Services Coordinator is also responsible for coordinating PopUp Libraries at senior living facilities and senior organizations throughout the community.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Develop and maintain contacts with senior residents
  • Develop new partnerships and maintain and build upon existing relationships with senior organizations in the district.
  • Serve as liaison with community and municipal groups and identify and analyze emerging community issues and needs to help determine direction for programs and services.
  • Recommend develop implement and evaluate new programs and services that meet the needs of Schaumburg Township’s senior residents.
  • Coordinate the schedule for the staff PopUp Libraries at senior living facilities and seniorserving organizations throughout the community.
  • Facilitate book discussions for senior groups at offsite locations and virtually via Zoom and / or other online platforms.
  • Select book discussion books distribute books to patrons develop discussion questions and facilitate discussions.
  • Maintain an awareness of new literature technology and trends in the profession.
  • Maintain an awareness of all library services and assist seniors with using them including online resources and downloadable media.
  • Identify possible grant opportunities to help fund programs and services for seniors and assist in the grant application process.
  • Collaborate with Outreach Associate to ensure library services are provided to patrons who are unable to visit the Library register patrons for the Home Delivery service and promote community awareness of the Library’s outreach services.
  • Maintain an uptodate awareness of the Illinois State Library’s Talking Books and Braille Service and register interested patrons for the service.
  • Attend workshops classes webinars and conferences to enhance knowledge of community engagement outreach and services and programs for seniors.
  • Attend local networking meetings for outreach community engagement and senior services staff.
  • Manage and complete special projects assigned.
  • Treat all patrons and employees fairly and with an open mind; maintain patron and employee confidentiality.
  • Communicate problems that arise with supervisor or designee; particularly situations where patrons are not following Patron Code of Conduct.
  • Communicate clearly either in person on the telephone and in writing; maintain the ability and patience to understand and be understood by nonEnglish speaking patrons.
  • Keep apprised of Library programs policies and procedures and building layout to most effectively assist patrons.
  • Maintain working knowledge of computer systems and technology needed in the position or as an employee.
  • Cope with the stress of the job and get along with coworkers.
  • Attend meetings and training as required or requested.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and / or experience :

Bachelor’s degree from a fouryear college or university is required; or four years related experience and / or training in community engagement and / or seniors required;

or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Ability to use workplace technology including email internet intranet and Library database systems.
  • Familiarity with online meeting webinar and video platforms including Zoom and YouTube.
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret general business periodicals professional journals technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions or complaints from managers board of directors business community members and patrons.
  • Ability to define and solve practical problems collect data and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written oral diagram or schedule form.
  • A valid Driver’s License is required for this position.
