Job Summary :
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is one of the nation's premier academic pediatric programs.
Its clinical and educational programs are consistently rated among the top 10 nationally by US News and World Report.
The Section of Child Neurology is a seeking a Director of the Neuromuscular Program, Section of Child Neurology at Children's Hospital Colorado and University of Colorado School of Medicine.
This is a collaborative program with Neurology and pediatric Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. The Director is expected to supervise the clinical, education, and research operations related to pediatric neuromuscular disease including Muscular Dystrophies, myopathies, peripheral neuropathies, co-direct the MDA clinic and EMG lab.
This position will involve strategic oversite of these programs with the intent to grow and strengthen the clinical and research program, maintaining a national reputation and developing a lasting educational program.
Preferred is an individual with an accomplished academic record, demonstrated programmatic leadership, and experience within a high-functioning, academic pediatric neurology program.
The candidate will be responsible for further building the program, enhancing a multi-disciplinary research program, and fostering strong, collaborative relationships with both external and internal stakeholders.
Successful candidates must possess an MD, DO or foreign equivalent and national recognition. Candidates should have proven or emerging collaborative leadership skills to direct the clinical, research, and educational programs of the program.
A successful candidate must have demonstrated excellence in mentoring and working with faculty, administration, residents, and students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities :
- Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of the Neuromuscular program to ensure financial and human resources are available to support research, clinical care, educational, andadvocacy / policy activities.
- Develops innovative clinical, educational and research programs to enhance the local standing and national reputation of the program.
- Leads the development and implementation of educational and clinical training programs, inclusive of the Child Neurology Residency and a Pediatric Neuromuscular Fellowship
- Supports faculty recruitment and the infrastructure for faculty development.
- Directs and strategically expands neuromuscular patient care operations, both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Establishes strong metrics and outcomes for clinical and academic performance.
- Partners with the Children's Hospital Colorado Foundation to develop community philanthropic support of the neuromuscular program.
- Recruits and develops faculty and interdisciplinary professionals to support the clinical and academic missions.
- Oversees departmental compliance with regulatory requirements and quality improvement.
- Facilitates collaboration in academic and clinical care with other sections within the Department of Pediatrics as well as Departments within the University of Colorado School of Medicine and other health sciences related units.

Minimum Qualifications :
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below :
Assistant professor
- 4-6 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic pediatric neurology program.
- Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
- Board Certification in Pediatric Neurology or comparable experience in
- Pediatric Neuromuscular disease.
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
Associate professor
- 6-8 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic pediatric neurology program.
- Minimum faculty rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor preferred.
- Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of pediatric neuromuscular patients.
- Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
- Board Certification in Pediatric Neurology or comparable experience in
- Pediatric Neuromuscular disease.
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
Professor
- 8-10 years of experience in a multi-disciplinary academic pediatric neurology program.
- Minimum faculty rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor preferred.
- Independent care provider who is highly skilled in the management of pediatric neuromuscular patients.
- Experience with and commitment to faculty career development through mentoring.
- Board Certification in Pediatric Neurology or comparable experience in
- Pediatric Neuromuscular disease.
- Must be licensed or able to obtain licensure in the State of Colorado.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience in pediatric neuromuscular clinical program, strong clinical skills, accomplishments in research, administrative and leadership abilities, and a strong commitment to education.
- Experience building constructive relationships and ensuring cohesiveness among various entities, programs, and groups.
- Experience working within an academic institution.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
- Vision for program development, leadership qualities, and academic experience.
- Able to nurture strong collaborations among faculty with diverse programmatic interests, and across campus and community partners.
- Strong interpersonal communication, emotional intelligence, and management skills.

Anticipated Pay Range :
The starting salary range ( or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE :
Assistant Professor : $200,000 - $215,000
Associate Professor : $225,000 - $240,000
Professor : $265k,000- $295,000
The above salary range ( or hiring range ) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
