GENERAL FUNCTIONS :
The Senior Program Director - WS is directly responsible for the planning, development and supervision of all sports programming for the branch;
including but not limited to sports leagues, clinics, classes and sports special events, parent / child sports classes, summer and sports clinics.
This role is also responsible for the overall day to day program operations for the following departments : fitness, aquatics, and youth programs / enrichment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for the direct supervision, management, and growth of the sports program portfolio. Hire, train, and directly supervise sports department staff.
- Supervise directors of the following departments : aquatics, fitness, and youth program / enrichment.
- Responsible for the overall day-to-day program operations for the following departments : aquatics, fitness, and youth programs / enrichment.
- Design, implement, and manage operating plans to promote program growth for assigned departments. Executes strategies to ensure that members and / or program participants connect with YMCA programming.
- Exhibit relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Facilitate communication among all branch departments, and assist the executive director in branch operations, project work, and initiatives as directed.
- Ensure high quality member-focused programs and member service through innovation, evaluation, and on-going training of staff.
- Develop a culture of progressive management with the promotion of new program development as well as high-quality standards.
- Assist with department budgets, forecasts and variance reports related to the position.
- In conjunction with the Executive Director, provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign, volunteer committees, and boards as assigned.
Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
- Coordinate special events and activities as directed.
- Provide data and reports as required for assigned departments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE :
- Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, recreation, business, or equivalent is preferred.
- Three years of experience in successful program management; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
- Demonstrated success in leading staff teams and managing complex matters.
- Experience in effectively working with diverse populations.
- Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required within 90 days of hire.
