About the position The Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority (NRHA) seeks qualified candidates for the position of Security Programs Coordinator.
The Security Programs Coordinator coordinates the provision of security and law enforcement programs to NRHA public housing communities.
Directs assigned community outreach activities in support of programs. Investigates and reports violations of laws committed on or near NRHA properties, including but not limited to crime investigations and lease violation investigations.
Conducts special investigation or research projects. Conducts routine patrols of communities. Develops and administers security and law enforcement programs for communities, properties, and contractor.
Creates, submits, and oversees the distribution of crime prevention information to NRHA communities. Coordinates and conducts crime prevention, crime awareness, and emergency preparedness training for residents and employees.
Conducts crime prevention surveys for NRHA properties, compiles and analyzes data, and reports findings. Establishes and maintains working relationships with law enforcement representatives, social service representatives, and other program partners.
Assists law enforcement and government representatives in bona fide investigations, execution of warrants, truancy investigations, and related matters.
Recruits, trains, and coordinates the efforts of volunteers in support of crime prevention efforts.
Key Responsibilities The primary duties of this position include :
- Coordinating assigned community outreach activities in support of security and law enforcement programs at public housing communities.
- Investigating and reporting on violations of laws committed on or near NRHA properties, including but not limited to criminal investigations and lease violation investigations.

- This position reports to the Security Programs Manager.
About the Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have :
- A bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Sociology, or a related field.
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in law enforcement administration / crime prevention.
- A current and valid driver license and a satisfactory driving record.
- Basic Crime Prevention Training, Gang Specialist, and DCJS General Instructor Training certifications.
NRHA will consider equivalent substitutes for education and / or experience, provided that the candidate can demonstrate that he / she has obtained the knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the job.

NRHA offers a competitive compensation and benefits package. The pay range for this position starts at a minimum of $55,650.
00 per year. The pay offer will be made within this range and is determined by the candidate's work history and skill mix.
