Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking two Art Handlers for the Zimmerli Art Museum.
Among the key duties of the position are the following :
- Facilitate massive photo sessions totaling several thousand artworks from the collection to be featured on the Dodge Website.
- Assist the Website Coordinator, Assistant Registrar, and professional art photographer in all aspects of handling works of art such as packing, unpacking, transporting, and storage of works of art, and mounting / unmounting for photography and exhibitions.

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and / or experience.
Certifications / Licenses Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in studio art, museum studies, or related art field.
- At least one (1) year of art handling experience in a museum, gallery, artist studio, private collection or similar environment.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Familiarity with standard museum practices, terminology, and art history.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools.
Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Ability to carry out work required in lifting and transporting artworks.
- Must be able to stand for most of the workday.
- Some heavy lifting required.
