What are the primary responsibilities in the Sr. DSP / Communications Engineer position?
- Responsible for research, design, and development of digital signal processing and communications systems deployed on a variety of platforms including CPU, GPU, and FPGA.
- Participates in all phases of the product development life cycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and test.
- Applies engineering, software, and mathematical analysis concepts and principles in the development of system solutions.
- Works closely with cross-functional members of the engineering organization to develop and evaluate interfaces between hardware and software, and operational performance requirements and overall system design.
- Develops test procedures and related documentation.
- Communicates within and outside of the organization to explain and influence changes to practices, processes and approaches.
What required background will make you successful?
- BS in Electrical Engineering or related field and 10+ years of experience
- Experience with one or more high level language for signal processing algorithm development : Python (NumPy SciPy), MATLAB, X-Midas, etc.
- Some experience with some combination of C / C++
- Experience with design of digital signal processing algorithms
- Experience with implementation of signal processing algorithms on CPU, GPU, and or / FPGA
- Ability to communicate algorithms and designs in written and oral reports
- Ability to quickly grasp and come up-to-speed with complex code bases / designs
- Experience in one or more of the following areas :
- Satellite communications
- Cellular communications systems
- Modern wireless protocols
- Modern modulation schemes
- Modem design
- Coding theory and techniques
- Radio Frequency (RF) system design
- Radar / Sonar / LIDAR
- Electronic Warfare
- Novel signal processing algorithm development
- Signal geolocation
- Signal conditioning
- Interference canceling
- Statistical signal processing techniques (Parameter estimation, state estimation using Kalman and particle filters, detection systems, adaptive filtering, etc.)
- Array processing and beamforming
- Effectively delegates and specifies technical scope to junior personnel
- Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with customers
- Ability to lead teams of 2-3 multidisciplinary engineers / scientists
- Demonstrated experience in participating as a technical contributor to business capture
- Ability to serve as technical advisor to Program Managers regarding work estimation, staff assignments, and program execution
- Ability to obtain and maintain TS / SCI security clearance
- US CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED
Preferred skills :
- Advanced degree in EE or related field (applied math, physics, etc)
- Experience with Linux
- Strong software implementation background
Where is the position located?
This position is located at either our Centennial, CO or Chantilly, VA office.
