Polysomnographic Technologist

Job Summary

Provides physicians and patients with support needed to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders and the promotion of good sleep.

Essential Functions

• Performs diagnostic sleep testing, including but not limited to order interpretation, medication administration, patient hook-up and monitoring, BLS responsibility, continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) initiation and titration, oxygen administration, and other related duties.
• Analyzes data collected during sleep testing, including but not limited to staging, calculation of appropriate indices, and other related activities.
• Documents findings / patient responses in a manner consistent with documentation guidelines.* Maintains equipment for proper function and operation.
• Evaluates patients' and significant others' educational needs and develops and implements appropriate teaching strategies or makes appropriate referrals.
• Mentors polysomnographic technicians with regard to all aspects of sleep medicine. Validates ten percent of scoring performed by polysomnographic technicians.

Qualifications

Required High School Diploma or equivalent

CRT-Polysomnographic Technologist - BRPT Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists Upon Hire required CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 90 Days required Or CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 90 Days required
