JOBSUMMARY

Thisis an Operations position responsible for assisting MaterialHandling Equipment (MHE) technician II & III with maintenanceactivities associated with material handling equipment, andmaintenance of industrialbatteries.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstratean understanding and adherence to all work safety policies,procedures, and governingrequirements
  • Learn / gain knowledge of controlsand electric (AC - Alternative Current & DC - Direct Current)low voltage.
  • Learn / complete small electricalrepairs and welding projects as needed.
  • Learnto perform and maintain power material handling equipment (MHE)including preventive maintenance (PM) of MHE fleet checking,draining and filling oil levels as needed, checking, adjusting, orreplacing all belts and chains as needed, checking andtroubleshooting electrical controls issues, replacing motors andcontrols, safety checks, PM per manufacturersrecommendations
  • Learn / gain knowledge ofhydraulic systems / schematics / components, electricalsystems / schematics both AC and DC (distribution center) systems,drive motors, power amps, electrical controls including PLCsystems
  • Learn / gain knowledge of mechanicalsystems including transmissions, drive units, differentials,braking systems, telescopic masts, reach mechanisms, steeringsystems, suspension systems
  • Completes allspecial projects associated with buildings or grounds, asrequested. Includes but not limited to moving furniture orfixtures, changing lights, light carpentry, painting, lightplumbing, changing of light bulbs, repair of minor electricaldevices
  • Battery Maintenance duties will includebattery charger repairs, battery changes for MHE, repair of plugsand tips of batteries and chargers, watering and washing batteries,acid spill clean up, battery rack cleaning, battery area sweepingand cleaning, setting equalizing charge onbatteries
  • Participate in departmental on-callprogram, as designated
  • Responsible for loggingtime and materials into the computerized maintenance managementsystem (CMMS) on a daily basis in the form of work orders, P.M.s,etc.
  • Responsible for housekeeping, clean up ofall maintenance areas / work areas on a dailybasis.
  • Maintain all tools and equipment inclean, safe, working order
  • Adhere to all safetyrequirements and wear the proper Personal Protective Equipmentrequired by the job
  • Respond to emergencysituations to ensure employee and facilitysafety
  • Champion overall safety in thedepartment
  • Comply with OSHA, and other local,state and federal regulations
  • Adhere toOrganization and the Facilities Department policies and proceduresincluding appropriate attire, grooming, andattendance
  • Interact effectively, buildrelationships, and demonstrate a high level ofcooperation

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

  • HighSchool diploma or general education degree(GED);
  • Tech school or equivalent is preferred(2years)

Experience

Twoyears in an MHE maintenance position preferred (No experiencerequired)

ProfessionalSkills

  • Ability to read,analyze and interpret technical procedures, or governmentalregulations
  • Ability to add, subtracts,multiply, and divides into all units of measure, using wholenumbers, common fractions, anddecimals

Certificates,Licenses, andRegistrations

  • Must possess avalid state Driver's License and provide proof of liabilitycoverage meeting Company standards.
  • Complete aSysco approved the defensive drivingprogram
  • Obtain a Powered Industrial EquipmentCertification from Sysco within 3 months
  • MHE 8hour maintenance tech certificate from MHE manufacturer (IE : Crown,Raymond, Hyster, etc.)preferred

PhysicalDemands

  • While performing theduties of this job, the associate is regularly required to talk orhear.
  • The associate is frequently required tostand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach withhands and arms and climb or balance.
  • Theassociate is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, orcrawl.
  • The associate must occasionally liftand / or move up to 100 pounds.
  • Specific visionabilities required by this job include close vision, distancevision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception andability to adjustfocus.

WorkingConditions

While performingthe duties of this job, the associate is occasionally exposed towet, hot, extreme cold and / or humid conditions;

and movingmechanical parts and may be required to work in confinedspaces.

  • The associate works non-traditionalbusiness hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays andon-call.
  • The associate may occasionally berequired to travel to other Operating Companies or the corporateoffice as business needs dictate (i.

e. training, businesscontinuation, etc.).

  • The associate isoccasionally exposed to high, precarious places and confinedspaces.
  • The associate is occasionally exposedto fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise levelin the work environment is usuallymoderate.
