Overview :
A Safe Haven, a leading provider of comprehensive behavioral health services, is seeking a passionate and experienced Educator and Education Coordinator to join our Adolescent Intensive Outpatient Program.
The Educator and Education Coordinator will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering educational programs and resources to clients, families, staff, and community stakeholders.

Responsibilities :
- Program Development : Develop and oversee the educational components of the IOP, ensuring they align with both state educational standards and the therapeutic needs of the adolescents.
- Curriculum Development : Design and implement educational content that supports the therapeutic goals of the program, focusing on mental health, coping strategies, and substance abuse prevention.
- Individualized Instruction : Provide tailored academic support to adolescents, considering their mental health needs and educational levels.
- Collaboration with Therapists : Work closely with therapists to integrate therapeutic themes into the educational curriculum.
- Progress Monitoring : Assess and monitor students' academic progress and adapt instructional methods accordingly.
- Support for School Reentry : Assist in the transition back to regular school settings by coordinating with the adolescents' schools and providing necessary academic records or recommendations.
- Staff Training : Train and support other educational staff or tutors on effective strategies for teaching adolescents in a mental health treatment setting.
- Coordination with Schools : Serve as the liaison between the IOP and local schools to ensure continuity of education and proper credit transfer for coursework completed during treatment.
- Resource Management : Manage educational resources, including textbooks, technology, and other learning materials, to support students' academic needs.
- Family Communication : Engage with families to keep them informed about their child's educational progress and to coordinate any necessary accommodations or support services.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's or master's degree in education, counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Previous experience in education, training, or program development, preferably in a behavioral health or mental health setting.
- Strong knowledge of behavioral health disorders, treatment modalities, recovery principles, and wellness strategies.
- Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and create a supportive learning environment.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, establish trust, and collaborate with clients, families, staff, and community partners.
- Creativity, flexibility, and innovation in developing educational content and delivery methods to meet the needs of different learning styles and preferences.
- Commitment to cultural competence, diversity, equity, and inclusion, with sensitivity to the needs and experiences of individuals from diverse backgrounds and communities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and educational technology tools.
