POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Technical Project Manager at WMC Global, you’ll be accountable for end-to-end project performance and sustainability, from inception to delivery to maintenance.

You’ll partner with internal and external Project Managers and stakeholders. You’ll oversee project budget and resource allocation, drive project schedule, ensure cross-functional team alignment, escalate risk, communicate effectively, and uphold quality for all software platforms, systems, and solutions.

You’ll be part of a fast-moving, growing, and evolving team. You will report to and work directly alongside the Senior Technical Project Manager to grow the organization’s project management office (PMO).

A successful Technical Project Manager prioritizes and manages their time well, adeptly handling and escalating conflicting priorities as appropriate, demonstrating clear communication between cross-functional teams including business and software engineering and other internal stakeholders.

You can be relied upon to consistently prioritize and remove blockers on behalf of your teams. You are known for advocating and championing change benefiting your team members and their experience to deliver with quality and on time.

You establish strong partnerships across engineering, product, and business to deliver on schedule, keeping engineering teams organized and on task.

As Technical Project Manager, you will cultivate a unique knowledge base about digital threats and how they tie into both mobile messaging compliance and anti-phishing initiatives, and you will serve as a cross-functional bridge to ensure that strategic alignment meets technical enterprise and delivery.

Please note that this position is for a project management role in nongovernment-related, open-source cyber threat intelligence and mobile messaging compliance.

As such, applicants will be unable to maintain a security clearance in this role.

This position is fully remote and reports to the Senior Technical Project Manager in Global Operations. This position is exempt and located in the United States.

OBJECTIVES OF THIS ROLE

  • Manage multiple technical projects from end-to-end, effectively handling divergent opinions, expectations, needs, or requirements, where necessary, to ensure strong communications and strategic alignment between internal technical, product, and business teams, as well as external customers, partners, and vendors.
  • Lead project kick-offs, involving internal and external team members.
  • Lead and collaborate with project management, product, and engineering to achieve accuracy in story estimates.
  • Own the confirmation of needed process documentation, allocation of resources, and development of project plans, in tandem with internal stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with engineering and project teams to ensure quality assurance and user acceptance testing documentation is published.
  • Partner with product team to define and document technical requirement composition and implementation.
  • Mitigate risk through proactive, consistent, and clear communication.
  • Communicate comfortably with a customer-facing communication style.
  • Produce project delivery timelines, aligning the business’s strategic initiatives with technical deliverables.
  • Plan and prioritize project tasks, clearly meeting scope and published timeline.
  • Work closely with product managers and business teams to create and maintain product backlog according to business value or ROI.
  • Enhance and contribute to a team-oriented culture. Lead cross-team members to adopt best practices, maintain accountability, and celebrate accomplishments.
  • Support organizational transformation from waterfall to agile software development methodologies, using scrum techniques.
  • Drive scrum teams through iterative release to project delivery.
  • Enhance and sustain internal documentation.

  • Ensure project tasks are in line with a prioritized backlog per 2-week sprint cycle.
  • Communicate cross-team dependencies, risks, and opportunities proactively.
  • Create a roadmap of project tasks, with a clear understanding of business value and prioritization.
  • Lead scrum team to set attainable (and stretch) goals for a 2-week sprint period.
  • Confirm Acceptance Criteria
  • Confirm Definition of Ready (DoR) and Definition of Done (DoD)
  • Contribute to maintaining a healthy backlog.
  • Lead practice of using Jira daily for sprint work tracking and measuring.
  • Derive scrum team’s needs, based on feedback from sprint retrospectives and own knowledge.
  • Develop an encouraging and trusting environment for all team members.
  • Develop cross-project subject matter expertise (SME), deeply understanding areas of opportunity for cross-training and sharing of resources.
  • Ensure project deliverables, risks, questions, etc. are clearly documented.
  • Create and publish regular sprint metrics, establishing alignment among team members and stakeholders for the performance of a team over time.
  • Initiate written reports, communicating project progress or roadblocks, and plan for getting back on track.
  • Work with globally dispersed virtual teams located in different time zones.

JOB COMPETENCIES / QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years’ professional experience in technical program or project management required, of which :
  • 3+ years in technical project or program management role in a relevant field, working directly with technical teams to produce and sustain enterprise-grade software products and solutions required.
  • Significant experience working with small teams and technical teams at a technology company required.
  • Experience collaborating in building sustainable processes and coordinating release schedules required.
  • Significant familiarity practicing Agile Scrum team ceremonies.
  • Experience interfacing directly with customers, partners, and vendors required.
  • Superior verbal and written communications abilities
  • Sharp eye for detail and ability to communicate independently in structured, concise format across cultures and with those who identify with English as a second language (ESL).
  • Exceptional skills in organization and attention to detail. Strong focus on adherence to process and change management controls.
  • Sound decision-making, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong time- and self-management skills
  • Personal accountability and follow-up essential.
  • Adaptable and capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously, while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Validated success leading projects in a fully remote and globally dispersed environment, with scheduling flexibility in accordance with WMC Global’s core business hours and after-hours release schedule needs.
  • Comfortable with information exchange, asking questions, pushing back as appropriate, and seeking feedback and constructive criticism.
  • Strong technical understanding and experience working with the following tools :

  • Microsoft Office 365 Suite
  • Technical documentation tools, e.g., ReadMe, SwaggerHub, etc.
  • Understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools, e.g., Splunk or Tableau
  • Passion for technology, research, and consumer protection
  • Strong understanding of digital services and technologies
  • An ability to learn and understand, at a high level, basic cybersecurity concepts including cyberattacks, phishing, and associated defensive techniques

EDUCATION / TRAINING

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, or related area of study, required.
  • Advanced technical degree in project management, or related area of study, a plus.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • CSPO required.
  • CSM required.
  • PMP a plus.
  • AHPP a plus.
  • PgMP or PfMP a plus.

WORK HOURS

The Technical Project Manager must make themselves available during core business hours and must be available to meet with globally dispersed teams, partners, vendors, and customers in other time zones, e.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

The Technical Project Manager may be required to travel for work 5-10% of the time.
