Job Title : Project / Process Engineer
Department : Engineering
Reports to : Vice President
Position Summary : Manages engineering activities throughout the plant by performing the following duties personally or through others.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Develops and implements critical process engineering improvements relating to the production of castings (i.e. creating or improving part specific production practices / standards, monitoring part production to determine if manufacturing errors are present and work to correct them, etc.)
- Manages ISO Certification involving an internal audit and recertification audit annually with ISO accreditation auditor.
- Provides engineering expertise through FEA and 3D CAD (SolidWorks) modeling relating to the design of new castings, casting gating / feeding design, tooling design, and plant improvement design projects.
- Works with in house machine shop and provides operator / s with support for existing production machining activities as well as develops new machining production work.
Also provides machine operator / s with tooling / project engineering drawings for production of new tooling / fixtures needed throughout the plant.
- Improves production practices by improving / creating fixtures / tooling used throughout the plant, and optimizing work flow and plant layouts.
- Creates and manages Quality Assurance practices for parts produced by and offshore partner foundries. Creates inspection procedures for all castings provided by offshore partner foundries.
- Provides new / existing part quotation support to technical sales manager.
- Provides engineering support to plant manager.
- Manages progress of samples both domestic and offshore working with clients to assure timely, positive results.
- Utilizes MRP and CRM data to manage manufacturing engineering / process data for all production parts.
- Works on special projects.
- Coordinates all safety related activity with plant manager.
Education / Experience :
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) from four-year College or university in appropriate engineering field (manufacturing, mechanical, industrial, etc.
or one to five years related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of investment casting or foundry operations is a plus.
Language Ability :
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering prints and technical requirements, general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and the general public.
Math Ability :
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, trigonometry, geometry and other engineering related mathematics concepts.
Reasoning Ability :
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
Computer Skills :
Proficient in SolidWorks (CAD), SolidCAM (CAM), Microsoft Office, Outlook, Spreadsheets, Manufacturing software, Order Processing, Inventory, and Contact Management.
