Position Description

As an 80 / 20 Project Manager, you will play a critical role in driving improvement activities that are aligned to strategic objectives of the 'Commercial Vehicle, Automotive and Powersports' business unit at Modine.

You will collaborate with various cross functional teams within, and across, business units as you scope, plan and execute 80 / 20 related projects.

The position is also responsible for managing programs externally with strategic customers and suppliers. You will be tasked with identifying the critical 20% of efforts that yield 80% of results and focus on them to drive project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with business unit leadership and cross functional counterparts to identify, scope and prioritize improvement projects leveraging 80 / 20 principles
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation and project deliverables
  • Utilize 80 / 20 discipline to focus on the most impactful tasks and activities to achieve project goals within the given constraints
  • Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project and develop mitigation strategies to minimize their impact on project objectives
  • Monitor project performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess progress, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to stay on track.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders to provide updates on project progress, address concerns, and ensure alignment with project goals and objectives
  • Manage and coordinate supplier and customer communication to insure that project scope and timing are understood and that expectations are set appropriately and met
  • Create and maintain high level project status reports for use in monthly business reviews and other executive communication as needed
  • Manage new program launches following the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process and ensuring that quality, cost and timing deliverables are maintained and that customer expectations are met or exceeded

Required Education & Qualifications

10+ years of relevant experience

Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Science or related field; Engineering is preferred

Demonstrated ability to scope and lead cross functional teams through complex projects

Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Proficiency in project management tools and software
  • Experience with Advanced Project Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Experience with industrial / automotive Quality Management Systems (QMS)
  • Exposure to, and experience with, 80 / 20 principles is preferred
  • Exposure to, and experience with, lean productions systems / concepts is preferred
