Job Summary : As a Technical Writing Specialist, you'll collaborate in a team to create and validate technical documentation supporting Navy customers and personnel.
With a focus on defense and national security, your documentation will play a key role in providing accurate information to decision-makers, ensuring they are equipped with clear and reliable materials regarding systems and tools.
Required Qualifications :
- 2+ years of experience in generating technical documentation for a technical or informed audience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and PDF formats.
- Navy Experience. DOD Experience
- Experience with documentation revision and version control practices.
- Ability to interpret and document complex software and hardware products, including certification processes.
- Familiarity with digital collaboration tools, such as Teams and SharePoint; experience with document automation platforms like PandaDoc is a plus.
- Basic development knowledge, with the ability to apply technical best practices to documentation systems.
- A strong commitment to creating high-quality documentation and enhancing user experience.
- Excellent writing and communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
Key Responsibilities :
- Create, review, and refine user-focused documentation of the highest quality.
- Contribute to the development of technical writing tools, including style guides, documentation lifecycle management, and review processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering to deliver accurate, compliant documentation that enhances the user experience.
- Apply strong knowledge of English language structure, composition, and grammar.
- Tailor communication to target audiences, utilizing effective listening and interviewing skills.
- Follow and implement DoD MIL standards and style guides in all technical documentation.
- Demonstrate a strong aptitude for learning and managing increasing responsibilities and complexity.
- Thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment, focused on shared success.
- Operate autonomously, managing multiple tasks with occasional tight deadlines.
