Position Summary
As Murray’s Senior Supply Chain Manager, you know cheese and specialty foods! You are responsible for overseeing our supply chain, while supporting our purchasing team and merchandising plans.
You will work closely with our Director of Merchandising & Supply Chain to develop, lead, and execute purchasing strategies while tracking key metrics to reduce out-of-stock, overstock, and expenses while improving fill rates and gross profit margins.

What You Do
Purchasing, Planning, and Forecasting
- Oversee and manage all purchasing for Murray’s NYC (New York City) Businesses. This includes direct importing from Europe, direct ordering from producers as well as long lead and short lead ordering from domestic partners and distributors.
- Oversee and manage the purchasing team, guiding them to optimize inventory levels and in stock percentages.
- Work cross-functionally with merchandising as well as sales channels and use historical sales data to forecast required demand for Q4 season and monthly sales and promotions schedules.
- Enforce vendor adherence to contracts and purchasing policies & procedures.
- Use ERP reporting to analyze and interpret product needs, fill rates, and gross profit margins.
- Assist in department projects, cost saving efforts, commercialization, and product development, and product introduction.
- Negotiate with vendors for goods and services, negotiating the best possible price and service guarantee.
- Work with Director of Merchandising and Supply Chain to establish purchasing policies and ensure vendor compliance.
- Support food safety department to ensure that vendors are compliant with all food safety requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels and open purchase orders to ensure adequate stock to meet current demand and course correct as needed.
- Partner with key stakeholders from Merchandising, Wholesale, Retail, and eCommerce on core, monthly, and seasonal sales planning, forecasting and execution.
Communicate inventory updates and place, maintain and control special orders. Maintain and update order boards for all departments.
Analyze and optimize the supply chain, developing new routes and methods as needed to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods possible.
Inventory and System Management
- Oversee the monthly inventory process for all NYC locations including setting the schedule and team communication.
- Act as liaison for Receiving team, communicate out-of-stock, short dates, and updates, oversee spoilage credits by following up with vendors on quality issues and credit issuance.
- Oversee regular maintenance of ERP and Scales software to ensure all item costing and information is correct and up to date.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements for Success
- 2 or more years in a cheese and / or specialty foods purchasing position.
- 1 or more year in a managerial role, with direct reports.
- Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills - ability to analyze and interpret inventory and reporting data.
- Must have a sense of urgency regarding deadlines and resolving issues.
- Self-directed, dependable, results and detail oriented.
- Experienced in MS Office Suite (Excel / Outlook).
- Experience working with enterprise resource software to manage business operations (Net Suite, SAP, GIB, AOP, JDA, etc.)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor communication style to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external team members, partners, or
stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business, operations, or a related field or equivalent experience and training.
