About the Team

At Pfizer we make medicines and vaccines that change patients' lives with a global reach of over 780 million patients. Pfizer Digital is the organization charged with winning the digital race in the pharmaceutical industry.

We apply our expertise in technology, innovation and our business to support Pfizer in this mission.

The Biopharma, Patient & CDI (BPC) team creates technology solutions for our external customers. This includes all digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & devices) products, platforms, services and experiences in service of patients, HCPs, payors, pharmacists, or clinical sites.

Within BPC, the Platform DevOps team are accountable for the platforms at Pfizer that allow the creation, configuration, launch, and support of all externally facing digital (web, mobile, omni-channel, & device) products, services, and experiences, servicing all external customer types at Pfizer.

This includes our Marketing Technology (Martech) platform.

Our MarTech team manage the customer data that Pfizer collects from its integrated websites, mobile apps and marketing platforms.

We have a range of traditional MarTech as well as journey orchestration, channel and analytics tools. Our platform has evolved over 8 years to send millions of emails and integrate billions of customer interactions and events.

Our mission over the next few years is to change how customer data is managed, from fragmented implementations to a coherent customer-data ecosystem of services dedicated to the collection and management of profiles, consents and organised data.

We also aim to improve the marketer experience and to improve patient outcomes through tools that enable our marketing teams to create finely tuned, intelligent and relevant audiences, messages and journeys that can be activated across any or all of our channel options.

Role Summary

We seek a leader to join our team and be the Engineering Lead for two critical areas within our overall offering.

Identity Services : We leverage Okta (previously Auth0) as the IDP for our two identity services : Global Registration & Validation (GRV) is a OIDC implementation of Auth0 with custom management and configuration applications for Pfizer specific requirements.

It is focused on HealthCare Professional (HCP) users. Global Patient Authentication (GPA) is our simpler, native Auth0 implementation with fewer customisations targeted at non-HCP (Patient, Consumer) users.

Consent & Preference Services. This is to some extent a greenfield service, as we seek to completely re-platform and improve the existing legacy service.

We need to create both the UIs needed to manage user consents and preferences in a high-trust and transparent manner, but also the backend data, metadata, processes, and integrations necessary to manage this business-critical data securely and compliantly.

In this leadership role, you will act as visionary and executor of these technical services. You will lead teams totalling 10-20 resources to understand the business contexts, solve complex engineering problems, craft the technical designs and ensure a successful delivery of high-quality products and services from inception to completion.

This role requires exceptional technical knowledge, strong management skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams while sharing responsibility with other program leads for achieving the desired objectives.

You will be accountable for delivery of security-and privacy-first capabilities while creating an environment where engineers can do their best work as measured by a quarterly Developer’s Experience survey.

You will align with and contribute to our network of service managers and principal engineers.

Role & Responsibilities

Core responsibility : product & service delivery

The core responsibility for this role is to ensure that all business needs identified for your Identity, Consent and Preference services are met and managed.

Your purvue encompasses all product, project and service roadmap.

Key to the success of this role is your ability to understand the landscape, influence strategy, make good decisions and then deliver on them as part of the wider CRM and Customer Data ecosystem and architecture.

You will manage Pfizer colleagues, technology vendors and a multi-national team of on / off-shore resources. You need to be an experienced people leader, with the ability to collaborate and influence across Platform DevOps, Chief Marketing Office (CMO) and Pfizer Digital in general, including engineering and product roles.

You will need to build a team able to accept and accommodate change. There are good opportunities to share technology and features across GRV and GPA as well as make efficiencies with how you allocate resources.

This means you need to be comfortable taking appropriate risks to achieve desired results (speed, quality, security, simplicity), whilst also balancing the risks.

You will need to be comfortable actively managing vendor relationships to ensure Pfizer is getting the quality and responsiveness required to ensure high quality outcomes for our customers.
