Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads both students and employers for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force.
TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20.
Founded in 1968 as a part of the Virginia Community College System, Tidewater Community College (TCC) services South Hampton Roads with 4 campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, 7 regional centers and 2 important cultural institutions.
The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions.
Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC. TCC’s institutional accreditation is affirmed through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges.
The Radiography Program Effectiveness Coach provides support to the Radiography
Program by Assisting the Program Director with administrative duties and the Clinical
Coordinator with duties related to the clinical component of the program as assigned
Essential Duties
Contribute to maintaining student records in the program’s online clinical management
system (ex : new student data, immunization records, time clock).
Rotate through clinical sites to perform Random Clinical Simulations and practice lab
sessions with students. Act as a liaison between the clinical affiliate, clinical instructors,
and the TCC clinical coordinator.
- Proctor tests in the absence of an instructor.
- Manage program dosimetry service (enter users, collect & distribute badges, and
create dosimeter reports).
Conduct clinical performance evaluations on students identified with clinical
deficiencies or difficulties. Provide written report of student progress and provide
suggestions for improvement. Follow-up.
Visits Clinical sites to assist clinical instructors with competencies, image critiques,
student counseling, and end-of-semester grading.
Assist the clinical coordinator with new clinical instructor orientation to JRCERT
program, clinical policies, and the clinical grading system.
Attend clinical instructor meetings each semester and record the meeting minutes for
the Clinical Coordinator.
When applicable, attend affiliate radiology department staff meetings to communicate
policy changes to TCC students and program officials.
- Help with the Radiography Program admissions process.
- Conduct Radiography Open House sessions.
- Assist with labs as needed / requested, maintains cleanliness and organization of the
Radiography labs.
Track student CPR and TB records, communicate expiration dates to students, and
record student compliance or provide clinical coordinator with warning indicating noncompliance.
Facilitate student clinical preparation by completing CHKD Profile Sheets and MRI
screening forms.
Query and print benchmark reports for the Radiography Program assessment plan Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's / Required Qualifications Proficient in student supervision, instruction, and evaluation.
Equivalent of two years fulltime experience in the professional discipline (per TCC’s accrediting body JRCERT).
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification in Radiography.
VA state license in Radiography (required upon hire). Healthcare Provider AHA CPR
Certification.
Ability to organize and prioritize assigned tasks.
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Skills in Microsoft Office Suite products Additional Considerations Previous experience as a Clinical Instructor and / or radiology supervision or related field
or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and experience.
