Description
Summary :
As defined by the American College of Surgeons (ACS),surgical assistants provide aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure,and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeoncarry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient.
Inaddition to intraoperative duties, the surgical assistant alsoperforms preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitateproper patient care.
The surgical assistant performs thesefunctions under the direction and supervision of the surgeon and inaccordance with hospital policy and appropriate laws andregulations.
Requirements : A.Education / Skills
A.Education / Skills
- High SchoolDiploma or equivalent is required
- Graduation from an accredited Surgical Frist Assist Program, StateBoard accredited Vocational School of Nursing, or Graduate ofSchool of Surgical technology required
B. Experience
2 years of Surgical Tech experiencepreferred
C. Licenses,Registrations, or Certifications
- BLS required
- CertifiedSurgical Technologist First Assistant required
- ACLS preferred
