Data Center Technician Departments : Infrastructure Engineering Reports to : Manager of Infrastructure Engineering Career Path : Infrastructure Engineer I Job Summary The Data Center Technician is responsible for the operation, implementation, and maintenance work in a data center and / or Atomic Data facility.

The position requires strong formal conduct of operations skills, technical expertise, personal accountability, and flawless execution of work activities commensurate with a high-risk environment and associated expectations for exceptional customer satisfaction.

An ideal candidate will have a strong ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements and anticipate end-to-end network and infrastructure needs.

This individual will work internally and externally with IT support team(s) and / or partners regularly. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Serve as an escalation point and support resource for troubleshooting physical data center issues escalated from the Network Security Operations Center team Implement and decommission networks and provide suggestions to management based on expansion and improvements Perform new customer turn ups and provide customers with architecture design and integration recommendations Troubleshoot and maintain existing networks interconnecting multiple data centers with customer locations and the Internet Maintain various vendor management relationships and report regularly to Manager of Infrastructure Engineering Execute capacity planning, including power, HVAC and physical attributes within the data center Coordinate regular maintenances on various pieces of equipment, including UPS, generators, alarm systems, and report recommended action items to Manager of Infrastructure Engineering Conduct data center tours for prospective clients and / or escort individuals as needed Assist with training internal resources on data center components Provide inventory management of physical data center equipment Ensure availability of 24x7 on-call support for emergencies Assist with general datacenter facilities operations as required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent relevant field experience 2-3 years’ experience in a high-performance datacenter with direct support and network services engineering responsibilities In-depth understanding of data center technologies including, but not limited to the following : power management, cabling management, security / fire management and capacity planning Possess hands-on experience with UPS, generators, cable, and power management Knowledge of Low Voltage wiring standards 24x7 operations experience required Atomic Data provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment in accordance with all applicable laws, directives, and regulations of federal, state, and local governing bodies or agencies.
